S&W Airweight .38

It honestly had more unpleasant recoil than my .500 pushing 500gr loads.
I picked it up as a woodswalker. I had the 5.5 inch Redhawk for hunting. So after shooting that thing I sold it and customized the Redhawk into my 4.5 inch perfect magnum with a lot of nice little added touches.

That's because it is. ;)

Can't argue. OK, I'll point out the " downsides " .

Only the strength of conventional J Frame ( a 640 w/o slot is even more stronger. That's why they were first J's offered in .357 .)

Carried loose in a pocket, it's not impossible for lint or dust bunnies to enter the slot .

Both picky and negligible.

The Shrouded Hammer Bodyguards are kind of a niche gun . People that have them , tend to Really Like them . But most people will see one , and scratch their heads , "What's That ? " .

Meanwhile. $600 is not unreasonable, closer to $500 would get it quickly snatched up .

You ain’t felt recoil unless you shot this Astra Terminator with Hornady .44 mag 300gr XTP’s……..😬

Ehh .

On mine , I switched from the oem Pachmyer Compacs to Pachmyer Gripper ( closed back , intended for Sq Butt K ) . Given the inherent size of the frame and cylinder , those grips aren't a carry issue .

From a recreational or hunting context , full power loads aren't that bad . You know you set something off , but not abusive. I used 240's , but that was coincidence . I'm half tempted to break it out to shoot some 300gr . ( OK, probably not load or by 300's just for a forum post , before I otherwise get around to loading some for the SBHH .)

But , acceptable rapid fire by duty gun standards with full power Mag ...... Just couldn't happen. I was good to go with full power .357 , but the T Gun was just a hair too far.

And back in the day there weren't any factory loaded options between powder puff .44 Spl and full power mag . I'm overdue to break it back out again with some Boutique. 44 Spl +P for carry .

But no everyone out there , Don't buy a snubnose .44 Mag .

The whole reason d' ( damn auto correct) for one is Power . But the velocity loss between 4inch and 2.75 is Huge . 100- 150 fps

 Slander & hypothetical excuse from 642's and 637's for not being as cool as their brother the 638:ROFLMAO:

Like rimfire unreliability and much else, Internet exaggeration and hype. It's also possible for lint and crap to get jammed between were the trigger enters the frame of any gun, Slide rails to collect enough dust to cause malfunctions, and or :poop: in the barrel causing and obstruction. We do inspect our guns at the start of each day, right? Correct any deficiencies? Or do we just strap them on day after day, year after year and hope for the best? As for pockets, turn them inside out and slap the crap off them once and a while.

Please note that I didn't have Vapers, fainting spells, predictions of self-inflicted wounds or the end of the world, at the suggestion of "Carried loose in a pocket";). "It's HAS to cover the trigger guard" another internet exaggeration(y).

I always use a pocket holster as it keeps the revolver oriented in the same place every time. Loose it can shift around. But I don't worry about it going off in my pocket, that is a pretty convoluted scenario since nobody would keep anything else in that pocket to keep from scratching up the gun. Speaking of convoluted scenarios, I hear the "lint theory" put forward every time the Bodyguard is mentioned. Good Lord. Change your pants! If you are wearing the same pair of pants every day without washing them, perhaps lint is an issue. It has never, ever been an issue for me.

I think the gun was fun, I sold it to a good friend who used it as backup when he goes hunting, 300 grainers get your attention
