Got the news that another friend that served with me in the Air Force has passed away. In the last 3 years many have died. I am in my late 60's and didn't consider myself that "old". I guess I am. Not very much of us left and makes you wonder when my time will come. Guess I have been relatively lucky when it comes to health issues. Between family and friends I don't have many left. I guess your senior years are not as golden as everybody would think they are. Lonely would be a better word to describe it.

My condolences as well.
I've reached this odd stage in my life where all my friends have either passed away, moved away or simply moved on. I have only the internet to hang out with.
While the plan is to hang around this old world for at least another 20 years, the truth is that at my age and with my health issues, I could fall over dead any second. Not exactly how I pictured my golden years.

Hang in there nmedge, you're not that old. As you can see from all these posts, you have a lot of friends here on the forum. Take comfort in knowing that your friend is in a better place where there is no illness, pain, suffering, or worry. Thoughts, prayers, and sincere condolences coming your way.
