I just bought the Romeo 5 and the Juliet 3 micro for my rifle . After putting them on I noticed the when I look through the magnifier my field of view is smaller than it should be , then I started reading about eye relief about if the magnifier is too far away from the eye this usually happens. My problem is with the flip up sight I don’t think I can get it closer even if I take the flip up off . I’m new to optics . Don’t know if I should just return the magnifier and just use the red dot or if there’s something I can try. I figured I’d post this question and hopefully get some expert input from everybody .

The magnifier is really only for long ranges. Say 100 yards or better. Anything closer than that just keep it flipped out of the way. If the FOV is too small at 100 yards it could be the optic and/or the magnifier is simply too small for your personal liking.
I don't really know though. I've never used one. I have Romeo 5s on all my ARs that don't have scopes on them, but I have not felt the desire to put a magnifier in front of it. If it's a fighting rifle and you are engaging something at greater ranges than 50 or 100 yards you have a book of variables 5" thick to consider before going the magnifier route. Things like " Would I enjoy prison?" or " Wouldn't a .308 or a BAR with a nice scope be a better tool for this task?"
Anyway, just ignore me brother. There's 100 guys here with magnifiers on their AR's who will give you way more useful answers than I have.

Any magnified optic will have to be mounted far enough back for the eye relief you need for a full FOV that it’s almost impossible to mount BUIS behind them. Especially the Micro magnifiers. I got the Holosun 3x magnifier because it’s longer and brings the optic that much closer to my eye. I ditched the BUIS. Also, you do know there should be a focus ring on that magnifier that will help as well.
Yeah I got it focused pretty good. Been reading about the magnifier I bought and many stated it hasn’t got good eye relief until you put your nose close to the charging handle so I tried that and that improved my view through it. I’m a newbie with these things and been reading a lot of info using red dots and mags. Fascinating that there’s more to know than just putting one on and shooting .

Yeah, on my rifle, if I’m just using the RDS, my stock is in the longest position. When I flip the magnifier, I have to move the stock in a little shorter to get the eye relief where it needs to be. Like I said, all magnified optics have a shorter eye relief, including just a magnified scope. Something you have to live with if you want to magnify…
Yeah I tried to take my flip up sight off but the screw must have lock tight on it , couldn’t get it loosened and I was afraid to mess it up. But knowing now what eye relief is and seeing how to work around it I think I can live with it. It’s not like I’m doing any competition shooting with it.

This is why I am a very vocal advocate of not using Loc-Tite on almost anything and particularly not using it on mounting screws for optics.
Here's how to remove the screw. Step one, put the multi driver with the Torx bit away because you will just end up breaking the tip. Buy a dedicated set of hardened Torx drivers and use the appropriate driver. Make sure it's fully seated in the head of the screw. The Loc-Tite WILL give before the screw breaks.
