Scope mounts

Kerr

Alpha
I have my father's Korean war issue 03 A3. It's in wonderful condition so I'm going to use it. I'm looking for scope mounts for the 03 A3 and what I am finding online either shows the mount on the wrong rifle or says that no machining is required but where THEY say the holes are for mounting, don't exist on my rifle. I have been looking at gun shows for a couple years and don't trust what I see on the internet. Can someone reccomend a place to actually find what I am looking for. It must NOT REQUIRE machining of the weapon, this one is too nice to ruin with machining. Thanks...

It does not exist.

The 03A4’s (sniper rifles) were modified to accept a scope mount. If you want to scope it, it’s gonna require machining/drilling & tapping the receiver.

Learn to run the iron sights...they’re capable of incredible accuracy.

Hans said it all!! Don't screw up an otherwise great condition weapon from the past. If you must have a scope, go buy a rifle that that has holes already drilled or has no collection or historical value.

I promise you this....This old Marine will NEVER, drill, machine or otherwise modify this wonderfully made rifle. I keep being told that there are machine free mounts for this rifle so I will keep looking. I may be looking for the great white whale, but I'll keep my eyes open. The rifle is still very accurate, as you mentioned. However my eyes are in their 60's now and would like assistance at greater distances if possible. Thank you sir for your input. I appreciate all assistance.

If you had an 03–not an 03A3–there might be a mount that would replace the barrel mounted rear leaf sight with a rail, and you could do a scout-type scope. They make them for mausers and nagants, never seen them for 03’s. That might be what people were talking about.

Not an option for the receiver mounted peep sight on an A3, though.
