See Update: Red Flag Order Falsely and Maliciously Filed Against Colorado Cop

That's a touchy subject.

I'm not a shrink but I'm pretty sure that being depressed doesn't "automatically" mean you are suicidal or a threat to others. If a person IS suicidal then I guess it should be the doctors job to report it. That being said, there's ALWAYS someone who will abuse the system....like an anti-gun MDs. Most people speak with their MD about depression when, I feel, they should be refered to a psychologist for evaluation. Let a trained professional raise the flag. Sadly though, I'm sure you would have the same abuse of the system in the psychology world.

Read a few articles within the past few weeks that the CDC is getting involved in gun control studies.....again (tried it back during the Clinton admin). They will always use any method available to chisel away at our rights.

We all bitch that mass shootings are mostly mental health issues, not a gun issue, so it's kind of hard to defend against such laws. Crazies shouldn't own guns....period.
For the record. This case was handled by a psychologist. The patient walked in on his own to a hospital (not a mental) hospital.at the request of his Psy.when there & checked in.He discovered he was in a lock down area & held against his will for 4 days.Upon release he was told by his lawyer he had a good case for law suit but would cost 30 to 40 thousand and it was his word against the doctor. After 5 years applied for his FOID.paid $1000.00 for evaluation which was recived by Illinois state police.Verification of paperwork recived.17 months later . nothing from ISP.this goes on every day. This is not a myth.it happens every day

Another scary story on misused Red Flag law. I'm not surprised it happened in Massachusetts (I'm sure 10mmLife could regale us with Mass. anti 2A horror stories before moving out 🗣👨‍🏫), and that the State won't give him back his firearm(s), even though he wasn't charged with anything. Very frightening law. It needs to stop & hopefully doesn't get implemented in more States.

Mass is a whole different land where the attorney general makes the laws and no one gets a say. In Mass you need to have an interview with the local PD plus pay $100 to maybe receive an LTC. One of the most screwed up things in MA is your LTC can be denied for no reason given and if you did get one it can be revoked at anytime for no reason given. If you receive an LTC it is issued from the town/city you reside and is null & void if you move out of that town/city. When moving you need to notify the former city and new city within a short timeline to reapply/transfer your LTC. Even more screwed up is the new town can deny you're application if they choose which has happened to some people. Certain city's are near impossible to get an unrestricted LTC such as Boston and Brookline etc..... It's not really a good place to live if you are a freedom loving American.
