I have a Vickers Master Class- which isn’t far off this model.
My Vickers has same sort of grips, so I knew already I’d almost have to swap those out to thins.

In the end, I decided my next Spgfld 1911 will probably be one of the Mil-Spec ones.

But…. Good pickup there, KF !! I’m betting you’ll love it.

I have a Mil-Spec for afield and muddy hunts.

This is my range toy, carry piece when not chasing down the hogs

Well, thought & thought over the thing… finally did it today.
My new pickup, NIB, $600….

A bit greasier out of the box than other Spgfld’s I’ve bought. Kinda RIA-ish, lol - except the smell reminds me of 3 In One (???)).
It’s the lower end Defend Your Legacy, of course. They didn’t have a mil-spec with the double diamond grips, etc.
I can tell one thing right off: if i ever do a custom (looking at Ed Brown, btw), it WILL have a short trigger! This feels so much better in my hands - maybe its the combo of short trigger and arched MSH ?? And that without it having thin grips, to boot. These regular grips aren’t as fat as my GI RIA.
I’m liking the higher white dot sights already, too. Obviously unlike my GI RIA.
Got my usual S&B and some Ballistol wipes. Note the ProShot Zero Friction - dealer just mentioned it offhand when I said something about the oiliness and needing to clean it. He said they use it to smooth actions out and that it really works. Anybody here tried it?

But Killer, u really shouldn’t post pics of yourself in blackface here; I’ve noticed some members with delicate sensitivities…. (😂😂😂).

Quick serious ques for u or others:
I just a moment ago finished firing about 20 rds (230gr fmj ball; nothing fancy during break-in period). Noticed the dings just rear of ejection port.
Anything to be concerned with ??

PS- she seems to be dead on accurate. I don’t have targets or my tape measure with me, just hitting odd blocks of wood against the backstop…. -25 ft…

Tisas are good for EVERYONE. I already owned several 1911s (bought them maybe 6 years ago) when I bought my Tisas DB45R this past Spring. I bought it because I couldn't find an SA Garrison in stock at the time - compared the two and the differences were strikingly similar. The similarities (mainly the forged frame) are what sealed the deal for me. The firearm is pretty clean, too...it has good fitment and finish, especially considering it's a bottom tier 1911.

All of my 1911s are bottom tier. I've 3 RIA 1911s (a MS 22TCM, a MS 9mm, and a FS double-stacked 10mm) and a Metro Arms 45ACP Commander. The RIAs have crappy fitment and finish compared to the MA 45ACP and Tisas. Of the Metro Arms and Tisas, the Metro Arms is tighter and has a far better (blued) finish. They all shoot well enough, but when you handle them all, you immediately notice that the RIAs are definitely made with utility in mind, but this is coming from someone who doesn't really have the desire to spend $1500-$2000 on a 1911. Roughness won't bother me.

Some will say, "you could've bought a Dan Wesson instead of spending the same money on 5 cheap 1911s." I bought my 1911s during a 7-8 year span, and the same could be said of anything in life if you analyzed anyone's buying habits over a 8 year span of time. That, and my kids and wife don't have the same concepts and ideals of firearms as I do. I highly doubt they'll treat the firearms as heirlooms when I pass away. I've already instructed my wife to do with them as she wants/needs, although she may keep my first gun (which she bought for me - a P220 Equinox). The only firearm I currently own that I know will sell more than I paid is my Arsenal AK. I'd roll over in my grave and haunt my family because they'd just sell them for a few hundred dollars each, even if it were a stack of Dan Wessons. On the flip-side, if I'm carrying one of these, I won't lose sleep if one is confiscated after a self defense shooting.
