So I take it you also have no interest in any firearms that have a brown stock, as well?
Our preferred LGS has some firearms available in different colors, and they certainly are interested in selling me a gun (as they have done several times ).
Colors are a personal choice, and if SA offering a pistol in colors helps bring new gun owners (especially those who might be reluctant to purchase a gun otherwise) into the fold, count me in.
Our three granddaughters all have colored rifles, and we recently added a Mossberg 715t covered in Muddy Girl camo to the stable. The 10 year old shot it for the first time today and she will tell you it is both amazing and beautiful! The pink Rascal has been pushed aside... These girls all became interested in shooting because of their pink and purple rifles, and I fail to see the downside to this.
I myself fell victim to the lure of an army green P938. While it doesn't shoot any better or worse than the all black version, it looks different and I like that. Bottom line, if you like it, that's all that matters.
I agree with everything you've said - where I was coming from is that I've been in gun stores, and women are often steered toward "pretty, little weapons" (instead of the right ones) based on color - a couple will come in, and instead of allowing the woman to hold several weapons, to see what she is comfortable with, the guy or the salesperson will steer her towards something not quite right for her.
I once saw a woman put together a pink AR-15, which I thought was awesome; not a color I'd choose, but she was very happy and comfortable with it - more power to her!
One of those 'Get Around To It' things for me is changing the stock (black polymer) on my 10/22 to something else; I've actually looked at the multicolored 10/22 stocks and other enhancements available - now that I've retired, that would be an interesting project
Good for you and your granddaughters! My first grandson is only 7 weeks old as of this posting, but I hope his parents will allow me to take him out to the range someday with my 10/22 or my ATI GSG .22lr 1911
And, yes, I'm not really a fan of tan, brown, or camo-colored weapons - but if a good fairy should leave a tan, brown or camo Staccato XC on my doorstep - I would happily accept it!
