Did anyone else see the announcement that Springfield partnered with www.icarusprecision.com to make some killer aftermarket metal Echelon grip modules? Can’t wait since I am in the middle of a Gucci Echelon build now.

The Echelon is also on MY short list as well. Hell, if I have a moment of weakness, it MAY actually jump the Shadow Systems MR920P I plan to buy in August. Then again, with the MR-P costing $1080, plus the $120 for the trigger mods, the TLR-1HL & level 2 or 3 duty holster I'm gonna get for it, I may as well get all that stuff NOW, while I have the $ to do so. Because if I don't listen to my gut THIS time, & get the Echelon instead of the SUPER nice & expensive gun that I've been saving for, the chance to spend that much WILL NOT come around again for AT LEAST another year, probably 2.

I already made this mistake in April by not listening to my gut & getting my Walther PDP Pro Compact instead of the Shadow Systems. And now that I've sunk nearly $1700 into the PDP for accessories, 2 comps JUST to make shooting it enjoyable while in the process turning a "compact" into a 5+ inch "Dirty Harry" PDP hand cannon, I'm lucky BEYOND description that my wife's cool with giving me another chance to right that wrong & get the gun I SHOULD'VE gotten. If I **** THIS chance away, as I said, there most likely either won't be another for a long time, or at all.

Nevertheless, the Echelon's STILL on ny list. It's STILL the smoothest shooting full-size I've EVER shot! I LOVE the damned thing. But it'll be around for a while, so I can wait.

Folks, I got the FDE Icarus grip module with the tungsten rods for my Echelon. It doesn't fit the COG. I can remove and install the COG in OEM grip modules no problem, can do it inside 30 seconds. I couldn't get my Echelon COG in this Icarus grip module in over 30 minutes. It's not made with sufficient precision to let the COG slide all the way back into position so that the breakdown lever can be re-inserted. The Icarus grip module doesn't have that little peg that lets you know is the COG is back far enough. But there are obvious gaps between the back of the COG and the frame, and it's clear that the hole for the breakdown lever is blocked. Icarus probably sent online reviewers pre-assembled Echelons with the COG already installed in their grip module.

I was never much for aftermarket modules, all my Sigs have the factory ones, in my opinion, Sigs are easier to remove there FCU then the Echelon COG

I recently sold my this Shadow Systems MR920 Elite and bought a PDP Compact 4 and a PDP Compact 5. There is no reality in all of my multiverses where anything from Shadow Systems is a better gun than the PDP. Be careful what you wish for.

Take a look at my post here, it will go in but it is beyond tight

Hi, I finally got it to work. Tyler at Icarus Precision sent me a video showing how to install; he said "if it won't go back all the way tap lightly here with a small hammer." Whatever, I was whomping on that sucker with a full-size ball peen hammer, and I finally got the slide to, well, slide properly. On like the 30th try. I think all the previous tries shaved off enough metal to create sufficient tolerance for it to fit. Anyway, I shot it yesterday at an IDPA match. It was effing great- grippy, more precise, less recoil, all good things. Not sure if I would do it again for the money and hassle, but I'm glad I got my COG into this grip frame without breaking anything. It was unpleasantly difficult. Also it only fits one of my Echelon holsters, a cheap one from Amazon that indexes to a TLR7-A/X light. Other holsters, for the same light, simply don't fit due to the gas pedal.
