A Neighborly Nightmare: Steve McQueen vs. Keith Moon

I live way out in the middle of no place. We get along great with our neighbors. However, most everybody hereabouts cherishes their space. I legitimately cannot imagine living in some big, congested city. The very thought makes me itch. It seems I’m not the only guy in the world to feel that way.

This is a fairly well known story, at least in rock and roll circles.

Moon was F’ed up that’s for sure. There’s many terrible stories to prove it.

Personally I’m not all that impressed with his one alleged redeeming quality, drumming. I mean he was adequate but he was nothing special. Certainly not anywhere near the same league as John Bonham or Ginger Baker.

Who would have guessed that Ginger Baker would out-live anybody ?

So many 'greatest' drummers.....Carl Palmer. Aynsley Dunbar, Mitch Mitchell, ..... some more percussionist, some just power drummers....I'm starting to think Jason Bonham is as good as his dad was, for instance....

But Keith Moon was my first favorite. Except maybe Buddy Rich....

You lose me on the Jason Bonham thing. He’s pretty good but Bonzo he ain’t.

That dude was a monster drummer.

Check out his kit. Most drummers have their toms angled down toward them. All his are flat. Man that crazy bastard could play.

 
I was aware of everything in the article, with the exception of the blasting of the lights. I'd have wanted to do the same.
IMO, Moon was a total comedy of errors, including his time spent on the riser; his drumming matched his life: sloppy. Completely unimpressive existence.
