Strike A2 Blast Shield – Improving A2 Flash Hider Performance

Strike Industries has released a new Concussion Reduction Device, the Strike A2 Blast Shield. This device directly attaches onto any A2 Flash Hider muzzle device. This device works for rifles chambered in both 5.56 and 9mm.

Similar to the Original Oppressor, the A2 Blast Shield is installed via rotating the device to tighten onto its internal detents after slipping it over an A2 muzzle device. Its purpose is to redirect and reduce concussive blasts from live fire. The A2 Blast Shield also has six ports to help retain the birdcage’s natural flash suppression and compensating qualities.

Talk about a solution in search of a problem
It is a problem under some circumstances, so...

it is a viable solution to a problem.

Louder noise and concussion wave is a common complaint related to muzzle breaks and compensators, especially at a range when you have other shooters next to you.

This effect is magnified when shooting at a range where the benches are under a roof that reflects the sound/concussion wave back down on the shooters.

If you're already deaf, and/or don't care about the shooters next to you then the SI Blast Shield, and it's "Oppressor" line cousins, are likely not a useful expediture of $$.

It's likely not legal for CMP match use but like described above it may be useful to attach to an A2, or an "SI Oppressor" to its compatible muzle devices.

I have one of the SI Gen 1 "Oppressor" Blast Shield for use when needed that fits the SI JComp Gen 2 Muzzle Devices for either 5.56 or 7.62 AR-types that I have.

It comes in handy when at the range when others are there. Otherwise its not needed when alone.

But these SI Blast Shields would also be useful in tight CQB indoor quarters to move the concussion forward and not bounce off the interior walls.

Therefore, (see above Gif) I may get one of these A2 Blast Shields for my CQB AR9 since it has a 9mm A2 FH.

i'm a fan of the j-comp

a device that attaches to the muzzle to make an AR style rifle Kinder and Gentler when it’s fired? What’s next? A Fabreeze attachment to make it smell better then fired?
Where’s y’all Eye and Ear protection at these “Quiet” ranges?

it's not that kind of devise as it's for directing noise/blast forward. it doesn't tame as that's more of the comp/brake and the a2 is only for flash reduction

Okay. The only things I’ve attached to the working end of a M16/M4 is a blank adapter, bayonet, sound suppressor, or a grappling hook that launches when you fired a live round ( it was a experimental device… that actually worked ).

You're one of the very few that "man-up" around here.

BTW - I could use one of those grapnel launcher set-ups. ;)
Thanks. They were pretty Awesome! The live round would strike the primer which ignited the propellant and launched the grappling hook. The actual hook assembly would separate from the main body and automatically extend the 4 prongs. There was a slim but extremely strong line attached at the hook and the other end attached to the reel. I think it was 200 feet long.
When I make a mistake I owe up to it. My Grandmother and Mother were both Irish ninjas were were deadly with a big ass wooden spoon😁

I must not be as "traveled" as some others on this thread, but in my apparently limited experience the concussion off an an A2 compensator has never been brought up as a hindrance to operations.
Let alone a part of the rifle to complain about.

I stand by my previous post, it's a solution in search of a problem.

This is the reason on my truly muzzle braked long guns, they're covered with Surefire Wardens.

Again in my limited experience, the A2 compensator, is in no way like a true brake, especially in concussion, and discomfort associated with it.
