Sure those situations are always possible, but when you point shoot, a dot or iron sights are both out of the picture, but the great part of the dot is that if and when you do see it there’s no lining up front and back sights, you place that dot wherever it is in the window and pull. And as I mentioned previously I can put the upper edge of the frame of the optic on target or the window without a dot visible and guarantee an A zone shot. And in all likelihood the dot will be visible for follow up shots. Red dots aren’t for everybody, you certainly have to train with them to develop good technique and recognize how a dot performs under pressure. It’ not rocket science, but there are a lot of uninformed options - typically from “legacy” shooters that simply is not true.Is it really the dot or more of the shooters natural pointing instinct? When fumbling around with keys groceries, pets or whatever other distraction it’s near impossible to draw the same every single time. Add in a closing threat , seems like it’s more of a point and shootout to me.

You bring up a good point though, maybe we should also train with an arm full of groceries while trying to hit the fob to open the car. That would be an eye opener.
