Suggestions Wanted for 1911 Replacement Grips

I’m looking to swap out the thin grips and bushings on my Ronin. for some Cool Hand G10 grips. Did you buy the challis tools or just use a regular screwdriver to remove the bushings? I’d rather not waste the money on the tool I’m probably not going to use often if ever again, but I’m also concerned about potentially messing up the frame if the bushings get stripped. Do you remember if the bushings were tough to remove, like if they were installed with loctite?

My Ronin's grips came off without issue using a torx bit, if that's what you were asking. No Loctite from factory.

Thanks, that was one of my questions. The other question was wondering if loctite was used on the bushings because I need to remove the slim bushings to swap in standards. I’ve seen some people (for other 1911’s) saying they needed to heat the bushings to loosen the loctite.

I like VZ grips and have them on other pistols but I also have some LOK grips and find that they are just as well made for less $. So I went with these from LOK for this 1911 and am completely satisfied. This particular style is called Roughneck.

Agree, VZ has many options, including Super Scoop cut on mag release side. These are "VZ Alien" MARSOC is the color. These are standard mag release cut for ambi safety, the super scoop should help you reach mag release.

I’ve had good luck with grips from Altamont in Illinois. They’ve got a lot of styles, materials. That said, my carry is an older EMP-smaller size overall. I’ve got stubby fingers and it just “fits” better than most larger framed pistols (though I love my 1911’s and CZ’s

Sorry, It's been a while since I took the grips off to clean...didn't remove bushings...just the screws. That I can remember?
