Suppressor cleaning

I’m so glad it worked. I learned this cleaning the compensator in my TX22. I had heard they could lead up but had no idea how bad it could get in a really short time. The first time I cleaned it was with a dental pick with no vinegar and it was a nightmare!
I used simple green a few time and really hot water with pick tools and it was definitely a nightmare.

Just cleaned the Halycon 22 suppressor with the el cheapo harbor frieght cleaner and simple green pro hd. done pretty good. a lot of lead chunks on the bottom of the cleaner. it had about 600 rounds through it.

Here's the cleaned baffles after using the vinegar and sonic cleaner. They havent been this clean since they were brand new.

WOW, those are nice and shiny again. how long did you leave them in the vinegar and how long in the cleaner?
Probably about an hour soaking in a tunnel then I got the idea to use the sonic cleaner. They were in the sonic cleaner maybe 1/2hr. I still had to knock off the heavy carbon and lead but it practically fell off.

I
Just bought an Obsidian 45 whose baffles looked like that. 50 rds later they were flat grey.
I have ab Obsidian 9 but I haven't had to clean it yet. It's stayed pretty clean so far without maintenance. Probably the higher velocity 9mm pushing the carbon out.

i've got about 400 rounds of 115gr and another 600 147gr subs through my Obsidian 45 so far and haven't cleaned the baffles yet. Black as hell but it runs great, no issues. Haven't swapped the mount back to the piston to shoot 45 on it yet.

And Uncle Sugar buys all the suppressors used by the US military, so troopers switch to a new one and turn them into the armorer for whatever maintenance or disposal.
The military also trains it's armorers to chisel carbon off bolts and a bunch of other shite I don't think civilians should be doing to their guns.
