Suppressor process...

I’m doing a trust, so it can be done remotely. Individuals must go in, but trusts can do it remote. On my SS dashboard, I get a box to click “Join Session” when the dealer is on the ATF website to certify my eForms. We’ve been kicked out twice now. I’m waiting again for my dealer to try to log back on and try again.
Same here .. see note above.
Canceling SS for a refund on my $200 tax stamp and getting another done thru LGS, who has the ability/equipment to do so

I just completed it!! Got the status change email. I am now Submitted/In process. Let's see how long it takes to get the final approval now. Glad all that malarkey is done. The actual process is easy, it's dealing with website issues and access that are a pain. But I guess we can't expect much more from the Federal Government...

Awesome news!

I did my first E-Form when it got opened up back in January and I'm hoping I'll get my approval in the next month or so.

Update: side bar for @uspatriot1960

I cancelled my SilencerShop Tax stamp/kiosk order. Filled out Dec 14. Full refund.
Stuck in Pending phase with SS since then.

LGS got the proper fingerprint machine and such due to massive frustration with SS. Also they are a top tier SS dealer in the state.
LGS had my “submitted/in process” handled in 10 min and ATF email confirmation to me 30 sec later. 90 days for SS no results. Just saying. SS gave me and LGS run around for 90 days…

LGS refunded /cancelled my original purchased suppressor and upgraded me at no additional charge to an Omega 36M for same money.
Not I wait in suppressor jail.

Glad you’re moving along, Killer. Sounds like that was the best decision.

I Certified on Monday, got my ATF emails right away. Today I received an email from SS saying the application was received by ATF and the tax stamp check was cashed on Tuesday. The SS dashboard is still all messed up with what stage I’m at, but I know everything is in the ATFs hands and I’m just waiting on approval. Be interesting to see how long that takes.

Nice…
I’m at that stage .. again.

Have many stamps with ATF over the years. Never have I had an issue such as this on a companies end

Is all this BS required when you go through an outfit like Silencer Central? I've heard they take care of the process for you, then ship the silencer direct to you (or maybe to your LGS). I have not attempted this process, thus my ignorance. Been thinking about it for home defense though...I also heard the ATF is now stalling suppressor approvals intentionally, but that is admittedly a rumor.

I went through Silencer Shop. I’m not familiar with Silencer Central. I heard about the ATF thing you’re talking about as well, but that was for Form 1 applications, not Form 4. Form 1 is for people building their own suppressors, not purchasing one from a manufacturer or dealer.

Yes
Regardless of where you buy, that shop has to file with the ATF.

Smaller shops or those that dont care to deal with ATF and have the proper equipment, rely on SilencerShop of S Central to do the leg work for them. 3rd party.

I wont do third party again.

Only a shop that direct file with ATF

Edit: there is no direct ship. Just like firearm.
LGS needs to either direct file -( added expense) or use a third party

Form 1 or Form 4
Both are files thru ATF.
Form 1 - I file direct w ATF
Form4 - shop files to ATF on behalf of you since they own the product and transferring to you

Yes, all the forms are filed through the ATF. But Form 1 is for someone making their own NFA item. Form 4 is for the transfer of an item from a FFL to an individual and Form 3 is for transfer of ownership from FFL to FFL.

I'll hopefully be getting my Obsidian 9 in the next month or two. I just bought a few accessories for the Obsidian 9 including a tri-lug muzzle device, tri-lug adapter, tri-lug adapter tool and a fixed barrel spacer. All combined I'm roughly $300 in accessories for this suppressor I don't even have yet.

I got kind of lucky. My Rugged suppressor came with a flash hider muzzle device which the suppressor attaches to. Then they had a deal going on for a $200 credit with the purchase of the suppressor. I got a muzzle device/suppressor attachment for my 5.56 and a flash hider end cap for the suppressor basically for free. So I didn’t have to spend anything extra. Can’t beat that!!

Correct … but they all get filed thru the ATF

Difference is individual or a company filing for you.. big differnece.

My longest time frame for a Form1 was 14 days… yes, 14 days

Welcome to the next abyss ager AR building

I was for last several years.
New efile for “90 days”, I changed my mind and went mainstream.
Yeah, that sucked.
I was a 12 day min to 34 day max approval from atf. First form 3 is 90+ days plus … 😰😰
That’s horrible. I think that may be on the dealer. It took me about 3 weeks for the Form 3 transfer. But I think that was on my dealer. He did not set up his ATF account for eForms. Once he set that up and gave his info to SS, it took 3 days for the Form 3 to be approved and we then certified. I think everything has to be electronic now with SS and if the dealer isn’t set completely up with the ATF and SS, the process sits. Like I said, once my dealer had his ATF account and gave that to SS, it went VERY quickly.

It was 100% SS.
I know rhe dealer well
Sat with them at the computer as they tried with SS to get it certified. No bueno on SS.
LGS dropped SS and went inhouse with atf.
Problem solved
