Taurus and gun control

A gun company that wants gun control?

I have a very good friend who unfortunately has to visit Mexico often because a lot of their family lives there. They keep me informed of the violence that occurs.

I spent time when I was younger in the Mexican border towns of Reynosa, Matamoros, and Progreso. It always seemed to me that in these places only corrupt cops and bad guys had firearms. It was against the law(still is) for most civilians to own firearms which puts them at the mercy of the corrupt cops(military and government) and the bad guys.

I'm a law abiding citizen, but if I lived in that environment I would arm myself to protect my family. Screw the f*in local laws.

If you want to eliminate gun violence in these countries, then lockup the bad people who are causing and enable citizens to protect their family and themselves. It's really as simple as that. There are too many firearms in circulation all over the world to realistically believe you can take them out of the hands of the bad guys.

Mr. Taurus owner is being a hypocrite. I have experience and knowledge about the security teams that rich people in Mexico and South America have. They usually have better weapons and equipment than the local police. These rich people are a constant target and many of them spend a lot of time in the US because it's much safer for them and their families.

"Taurus in Brazil is separate from the U.S. entity of Taurus Holdings Inc., but the Brazilian branch produces most Taurus firearms."

While I agree anti gun politicians should be removed from office, I am not going to throw the baby out with the bath water. Lets see how Taurus responds and adjust.

From the linked article:
asked the new government to enact gun control laws while giving Taurus a near monopoly on domestic firearm sales.”

In other words, “enact gun control laws, unless they’re guns made by our company”.

It’s sad since Brazilians only recently got the legal ability to effectively defend themselves, now the far left criminals in charge want to take it away.😕

Our founding fathers knew exactly what they were doing. If we didn’t have the Bill of Rights, the United States would be on the same road as Brazil, Mexico, and many other countries (probably should have said MOST other countries. Most of our elected leadership has armed protection just like (or similar to) the rich folks in Mexico.

Well, there not the first or the last to do this, S&W did, Colt did to an extent, Ruger as @10mmLife, said, and yes Springfield also at one point, not saying complete gun control, but supported some kind of policy, so, I don't think we need to jump the gun....get it, on Taurus yet, the others I mentioned eventually dropped that agenda, which was great, maybe we need to pressure Taurus on this issue, just my opinion.
See this is where the verbiage to me needs to be clear because otherwise false info gets spread. Taurus itself doesn't seem to support this, some weirdo in brazil in charge of that division does. Hopefully will be removed by Taurus. Same with Springfield. They didn't support the bill, the lobbyist they were signed with did. And they were rightfully removed. I'm probably being petty but I don't blanket statements when I accuse.

It’s along the lines of “barriers to entry” and “rent seeking”… rather than compete on your own merits, you turn regulations so they favor your interest. In this case , the CEO wants to capitalize on media-driven gun violence. Almost always detestable, imho. This one’s particularly so.

A number of gun companies have stepped in it over the years and survived. S&W was all aboard the 90s "smart gun" nonsense, cozying up to the Clinton administration to try and get to the front of the line for contracts they thought they would be in favorable position to secure. Backlash against them was severe and they backed off.

More recently Springfield Armory did some cowardly kowtowing with their AR pistols preemptively and stopped making most models well before the recent brace ruling. They've had a couple of incidents that didn't sit well with consumers but have survived.

Colt of course stopped making ARs for civilian sale for a spell in what the Michael Moore's of the world thought was a victory, then they saw how profitable the AR market was during COVID and jumped back in.

Taurus BR can pack up and move, but where? When you have a tumultuous government that’s going to impose new rules and restrictions, it leads to further tyranny.

Brazil and Venezuelan are going to be teaming up for a new Re-imagine South America.
This is what’s on the future plan for the Re-imagined North America….US/CA/MX, look at the N.A. leadership and the agenda so far. Modeled after the EU.
And it all starts with sham elections.

Don't forget about Imbel.
