Agree, I meant there are some over the past year or so who believed he was making some sort of conversion because he would actually talk common sense - sometimes. He is trying to save the democrat party from the extreme elements though.
He has clearly mellowed as he aged, but he is no conservative. I watched his podcast with Kid Rock and the one with Gene Simmons. The thing about Maher is even when he was young and had that TV show he said what he believed and didn't merely toe the party line. Yeah I used to want to punch him in the face sometimes, but I still respected him. It's called integrity and either you have it or you don't. Are you ( not you personally brother, it's a general comment) willing to accept it when your political candidate of choice lies or breaks rules, but you're quick to call out the other guy ? If so you lack integrity. And to be honest there are certain things and situations where pretty much all of us are willing to accept unacceptable behavior from "Our guy/gal". Maybe it's a matter of degrees or maybe it's because it really is a lesser of two evils thing. Does this mean you lack integrity ? Maybe. Or maybe you're a realist and you understand that we haven't had politicians or any type of leadership that hasn't benefitted personally from the centuries old bastardization of our rules and rights.

Trump has said some vile things about several people, most of whom had it coming, if not worse.
Why the hell is everyone so touchy lately? First NMedge now you. Relax man, I wasn't saying your opinion wasn't valid. If someone can't disagree with you, or more accurately present a different perspective, without it hurting your feelings or causing you anguish then you are taking this whole internet chat room thing way too seriously brother.
