The Armory Life Interviews: Capt. Dale Dye, U.S.M.C. (Ret.)

Very good interview, appreciate the work Dale Dye has done on both sides of the camera. The movies he has made seem much more realistic than those with only untrained Hollywood type actors and producers. His and R. Lee Emery's works stand far above the others.
 
Great interview. His comment on liking the movie Patton for George C. Scott's performance but not for getting the details wrong rings true. The movie was supposedly based on two primary sources, A Soldiers Story" by Gen. Bradley, and "Patton: Ordeal and Triumph" by Ladislas Farago. As it turned out, most of the story line came from Bradley's book. Scott himself said the producers and screenwriters left much of the detail out concerning the complexities of Patton's character and life story. It's the reason he refused to accept his Oscar for Best Actor because it missed so much about the man and the General at war.
