Properly running a shotgun isn’t as easy as it should be, but here we give you some tips on aiming, shooting and reloading scatterguns.​

For cowboy action shooting, the shotgun is staged or held as noted in the stage instructions and no more than two shells are loaded at a time. The shotgun may be an 1897 pump, a hammerless or hammered double or a lever action. Shells are worn in a belt or slide. For grins, check out videos of world records. I looked at a 6 shell knockdown target array, not touching staged gun or shells with a time of 3.84 seconds. I get that targets are close in CAS, but imagine if you have an intruder in your home, you have those skills and you have a modern pump with a loaded mag tube in your hands. Bad guy cut in half before most parts hit the ground?
IDK if these modern shooters have similar records posted out there or not.
 
Oversimplified, and 5% cynical -

How to " Run " a shotgun in realife.

If threats are remaining after 5 or 6 rounds of Buckshot , drop the empty shotgun , and pull your pistol.

Nah . A good hit with tight pattern of Buckshot , is about as good a Felon Disuiader as anything can get.

If you missed some of the shots , or additional BG Reenforcements just arrived , the Handgun will have greater continuity of continued fire . Even if the ( whatever term implies stopping power ) is reasonably adaquate, instead of extra massive.

I don’t know anyone who is regularly strapped with a shotgun and carrying a sidearm in their house. And if you’re at shotgun distance and 5 shots of buck aren’t enough you don’t have any business with a shotgun.
