The Carry Contour TRP: Less Grip to Print

I haven't developed an affinity for the venerable 1911. Perhaps I will someday. One thing about the article that gets me as a writer: it presents the 1911 as a "duty grade" pistol, as if other, more concealable options are somehow not duty grade. Everyone on the 1911 team probably won't think twice about it, but for someone like me who has only conceal carried in the "polymer princess" era...? :sneaky:
Duty “size” is more accurate… as far as your use of the word “grade” 1911’s are the standard to which I measure and in my opinion most others don’t make the grade
😉

Well, since I'm "untactical" I'm not qualified to comment on the relative standards of 1911 vs. polymer pistols, but 100% respect the 1911's history and performance across the last century. I've had solid reliability and performance with a variety of polymer 9mm and less with the one 1911 I have. In fact, it's on the market to help pay for my next polymer 9mm, which will likely be a Springfield Echelon.

Big ups to all those who carry 1911s and are proficient in their use. I do like the look and feel - there is something magical about sending those fat 45 ACP rounds down range - so perhaps I just need to find the right one?

Yep

Back in the day , my first 1911 was from the early days of A1 . ( Wasn't a collectable then , just an old gun , plus had aftermarket Nickel .) With Arched & Short .

And it was " kinda OK " , but couldn't really see what all the fuss was .

Then I spent time shooting and carrying the FIL's 1911 . ( Built on Essex frame , Gold Cup slide ) , with flat housing and long trigger .

OMG ! This was it ! It fit me perfectly , and all the legend and hype was suddenly true .

And after that , always having to tell people that This was perfect for ME , but for most people arched would be better .
