Just perusing the SHOT show videos and PSA's JAKL made me wonder what is your idea of a 'truck gun'?

What I like most about this is the price point. Considering the nature of a truck gun, the possibility of losing it for a while after use. Something like this seems like a viable option.

Its too bad the DBX57 is in 5.7 otherwise I think it would be an excellent option. The form factor looks great, I'm just not too keen on the 5.7.

MDP-9 looks great, but has a price tag to match an MP5. Not something I would risk losing in theft or otherwise.

The mini 14 used to be considered a truck gun but now they sell for almost $900 and I wouldn't leave that in my truck. My Ruger PC Carbine would make a decent truck gun option and it also takes Glock mags and can be broken down for easier storage. The Kel-Tec Sub2000 is an even cheaper option with a known decent reliability.

I don't like the idea of leaving weapons in vehicles. I like all mine under my control at ALL times. Secured in the vault or with me. Coming home from the range I won't even stop at the grocery store with range bag locked in the truck. I take it all home and then run the errands with my EDC of course.
Some say you can secure it. We when I secure it so it can't be ripped off, that deters me from getting to it also. Nope, I voted no and I'm sticking to it!!

Kel-Tex PLR-16, CCA MicroRoni in EDC Bag everywhere I go and always have 2 Glocks on me.

That JAKL look cool and the price is right. I agree that I wouldn't want to keep any firearm that was fairly expensive in my truck. My problem, is also that I travel into neighboring states with restrictive laws and I'm afraid that I'd forget to remove it before entering the "communist bloc". The video below, is Gun Talk Media (which was sponsored by PSA for this show), visiting the PSA booth. If you go to the 15:30 mark in the video, you'll hear the PSA designer talk about the PSA5 (clone of H&K's MP5), that is also an awesome firearm. I was planning on perhaps purchasing the H&K, but now knowing PSA was coming out with something similar, I think I'll wait it out. It sounds like it will be reasonably priced, although no set price was given. I agree with 10mmLife that something like the Kel-Tec Sub 2000 would be perfect for a truck gun. I have them both in 9mm and 40. I've shot the 9mm and it was very accurate with little felt recoil.

In NH you cannot have a loaded long gun in a vehicle unless you are in the process of protecting live stock. I would need to view the subject like Northbound does with an EDC bag to go with me if I wanted the option of a truck gun.

Kel-Tecs are a bit of a love hate thing with me. Great concepts but the delivery is just not quite what it could be. I hate the polymer they use. Then there is finding them...

Yeah, but they're cheap, and if stolen, no big deal as far as losing something expensive. It's funny about finding them, as I bought the 40 at a gun show and as I'm walking away, I hear two guys come over to the guy that sold it and loudly exclaim, I'll take the 40. One was majorly disappointed to hear that it had been sold already. I was hemming and hawing about getting it myself, almost walking away thinking, "it will always be here if I change my mind", it was fortunate that I bought it when I did. Classic Firearms seems to have them sometimes, as I get their "deal of the week" and they've been there in both calibers.

I keep the Remington Tac14 in the truck at all times since Tennessee extended the castle doctrine to vehicles. Theres 5 shells of Hornady full power buckshot loaded 5 more in the console and 40 more in my get home bag behind the front seat on the floorboard.
