In NH you cannot have a loaded long gun in a vehicle unless you are in the process of protecting live stock. I would need to view the subject like Northbound does with an EDC bag to go with me if I wanted the option of a truck gun.
Miniature horse/cow to take the place of a dog? 🤔 20160623_080658.jpg

My "dream" truck gun if I wanted such a thing would be a Ruger Mini 14 with that folding stock someone just posted a couple of days back. But, I am usually not in my truck unless I have a pistol on me, and don't see a need to leave a rifle in my truck.

When I was in high school, a lot of folks had gun racks with shotguns or rifles in the back window of their pickups, on campus, and it never was a point of discussion or an item for theft like it would be today. Heck, I carried a pocket knife from the 3rd grade on, and for a "demonstrative speech" in high school english, demonstrated how to scale and clean a fish, with the big knife from my tackle box at school. Today you would get locked up or expelled permanently for having the pocket knife, not to mention a 6 to 8 inch blade or gun.

New basement is going to be done soon

If I had a truck, I would have to say a Marlin Lever Action in 30-30. Very low maintenance, very dependable, and not to expensive, old fashioned here.
Well as far as I am concered the whole premise of poking holes in objects is rather primative. Its just the delivery method that continues to evolve. As far as that goes, simplicity and reliability is essential.

When I lived in MN you could not carry a firearm (rifle) in the woods until a handful of days immediately before and after deer season.

Luckily no such nonsense here in MT. One can carry everyday out in the woods.

Kel-Techs are a bit of a love hate thing with me. Great concepts but the delivery is just not quite what it could be. I hate the polymer they use. Then there is finding them...
Here's one model in Classic Firearms (the model for Glock G19 mags just went out of stock as this model may well be shortly). I know you don't like them but figured I'd share if anyone else interested out there.

Whether i like them or not doesnt negate their relevance. Great concept, just poor delivery. They're like AKs and cockroaches, crude but effective.

Thats what i like about the forum. An idea or concept may resonate with one but not another.

Thanks for sharing!

No problem Classified.

@BET7
Take this new version as an example.

Why would you not make the deployment one smooth operation? Nope, lets add another cheap peace of plastic for the retension and make sure you have to lock it manually. A spring loaded collar would work much better.
Great concept though.

IMO it depends on your AOPs and what you might run in to, so my ideal truck gun will vary.

And I'd have to ask my truck what it prefers. ;)

It's old enough to carry but we're usually a team effort so it's good to coordinate.

I hear you. I like how they fixed the problem (that I have with both the 9 & 40), when a reddot optic is attached to the top rail.
