anyone remember Captain Kangaroo..??

on the first day of the month, Mr. Greenjeans would roll out a cake, and everyone born that month got a Happy Birthday cheer.

True story. I moved into my town back in 1981 and was reading the local newspaper when it had an article about a guy (listed a name I wasn't familiar with), who while in his car, rolled through his carport, down an embankment and almost into the local lake. The guy wasn't hurt or anything, but it went on to state "some people might be more familiar with him as Mr. Greenjeans from the Captain Kangaroo Club" (which I watched when I was a kid). I was surprised to know I was living in a town with such a well know celebrity :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:. He was pretty old at this time and the next time I read about him was at his passing. After that, I always wondered :unsure: if maybe Captain Jack McCarthy from the old "Cap'n Jack and Popeye" show, sailed the the local lake, thinking all these old guys I watched as a kid must all lived here. 😂😂

i appreciate the story, true that it is, but please lets keep this thread for those born in March, to wish him/her a happy birthday..???

i'd like to do this monthly for those born in a particular month

a "belated" birthday wish can be "just ok", but a timely one is much better.

as we can "see" right away a member here has something to celebrate.
