I got the same one WP. It had the CT optic installed and was the ported 4" PC version. I previously had also bought the non ported and not optics ready PC Shield Plus 4" model because you can't have too many . I'm a big Crossbreed holster fan, so I went with their IWB Reckoning holster that will accommodate either Sheild Plus version I want to carry. It came with a Crimson Trace red dot (not installed) and a few mounting plates. At this time I'm not really a fan of red dots on handguns. Perhaps in the spring I just may try it out. As far as shooting it goes, I have no issues with it whatsoever. It came with fiber optic sights which really "pop". Just my two cents...
Mine too and I just ordered it yesterday!Got an email from Muddy River Tactical my order already shipped. talk about fast....
I like the 6.5 Creedmoor. I have it in a Tikka T3 Tac platform.Yes sir. I got the MVP in 223 because at that time I had a lot of neck pain and didn't want to hold a heavy rifle. It's an excellent truck gun for down near the Mexican border because it's very handy. I had a lever action as a truck gun before, but the MVP with red dot is more useful to me.
Now my neck is better(though with 12 screws in it I will always have pain) and I think I'm ready to for a 6.5 Creedmoor. But I'm not in a hurry to buy one but it is on my list...
As I have written before, the 6.5 Creedmoor caliber intrigues me. I have owned and shot several rifles in 308 and 30-06.
Even before my neck surgery I gravitated toward the 6.5 caliber. I also enjoyed shooting a 243 for several years. Since I don't shoot a lot, the additional cost of 6.5 Creedmoor over 243 is not an issue for me. I'm thinking that the 6.5 Creedmoor will not cause me much neck pain, whereas 270, 308, 30-06 have.
Lots of good wisdom there, thanks for sharing your thoughts.I like the 6.5 Creedmoor. I have it in a Tikka T3 Tac platform.
However, it dosnt preform as well at distance, in my opinion, as my .300WM which has been my go to long distance caliber for many years. Yes, the recoil can be stiff but it can also be tamed quite easily with either a tuned custom muzzle break or a suppressor … or a combo of both in this case.
For distances beyond the 1100 meter envelope the .338 Lapua chambered in the Sako TRG43 has served me quite well and still travels from time to time.
I’ve had several .50’s over the years including the Barret but never had the opportunity to deploy one. It sits in the safe these days mostly ever since I got a .416 Barrett Model 99, then later an 82A1 also chambered in the .416. The .416 Barrett is a truly unique round to say the least. Optics is Nightforce in conjunction with the Barrett ballistics computer. Neither 99 or 82 sawLo deployment but are still fun to shoot.
I’m afraid that these old eyes, even with excellent optics, cant stretch their legs to their full potential any more as I was once able to.
I'm off track here….
I think that the 6.5 Creed would be an excellent choice for a long range border companion. I’d consider the Tikka T3 platform too. But, take a look at the .300 WM as well. If you can find a pair to take out to the range a shoot side by side you may find that of value. I lean towards good terminal ballistics at distance on hard targets in this consideration.
I’ve gotten my .300’s recoil down to that of a light load .308 when using full power loading. Hardly a bump! Your neck will thank you for any considerations you provide it!
As a side note, I had a gunsmith in Salida Colorado replace the rather Medicare factory “break” on the .308 MVP with a .308 purpose designed functioning break. Recoil reduction was just short of 40%. Considered a suppressor but didn’t want the extra leant added. Have been very pleased with its preformance.
