Who picks your duty ammunition? The short answer is YOU. You should at least have a say in what your department or range staff chooses. You will be the one carrying the ammunition for either self-defense or in defense of others.

I thought the desired penetration was 14 inches. This bullet is not the first one to have flutes, but is represented as "the one and only." Is it really?
There are proven self defense rounds out there that do not use this type of bullet shape. My biggest gripe is the cost of finished defensive rounds. I get that lives should be worth the added cost, but why is the cost so much higher than fmj? I did a quick check online, $.27-.30/round for fmj and $1.12-1.88/round for defensive ammo. I don't want them to go out of business, but can't they rein in the prices? Sheesh.

If I were in law enforcement I would carry Winchester Ranger T-Series. Both the 9mm and the 45 ACP are wicked rounds and extremely consistent in expansion. They perform almost exactly the same as the old Black Talon ammo of years ago.
They perform BETTER than the Black Talons…greatly improved barrier performance.

Honestly, people act like the Black Talon was some kind of magic bullet…it wasn’t; fact is, it didn’t expand reliably whatsoever after hitting moderately heavy clothing.
