The Threefold Promise of America

The Declaration of Independence, perfectly encapsulates the three key ideals that make up the American promise.

Firstly, and most importantly, that all men are created equal. Not only that, we are endowed with certain rights by virtue of simply existing. These rights cannot be taken from us by any force in this world, save that we surrender them voluntarily. This, more than anything, has been America’s greatest strength and our greatest failing. We’ve not always gotten it right. The institutionalized deprivation of equality and rights has haunted us since before our nation was born, and the ghosts of those injustices still haunt us today.

Was the constitution based on the Bible?

In fact, the Bible itself was also a very strong, direct influence on founding-era Americans who drafted and ratified the Constitution.

Some quotes:

  1. John Adams: “The Bible contains the most profound philosophy, the most perfect morality, and the most refined policy that ever was conceived upon earth.”
  2. John Quincy Adams: “[The Bible] is of all books in the world that which contributes most to make men good, wise, and happy.”
  3. Thomas Jefferson: “The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend all to the happiness of man. … Had the doctrines of Jesus been preached always as pure as they came from his lips, the whole civilized world would now have been Christian.”
  4. Benjamin Rush: “The Bible contains more truths than any other book in the world.”

The Surprising Religious Diversity of America’s 13 Colonies

Nah.

Those people that try to “pray away the gay” and force their kids into suicide do exactly that.
And we have those who follow the religion of science who believe it is okay to mutilate children all in the interest of "gender identity". The very same people who say "follow the science" deny that gender is what you are born as. Mentally and physically screwing up an innocent child all in the name of their chosen religion. The child does not come up with this on their own.

Our Founding Fathers, while most had a firm belief in God, did not want a Theocracy. They wanted a Nation where you had the Right to believe as you wished. Believe and worship as you saw fit. Or not believe. However, the Declaration of Independence, which is the basis for our Constitution, states that our Rights come from the Laws of Nature and Nature's God, not Man. "We are Endowed, by our Creator, with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are the Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."
