Things a non cretin might do on a Saturday evening

Bassbob

Rain meant all work today was done in the houses other than hauling 6 buckets of copper and brass to the scrap yard.

After that a nice dinner. Pork chops and pasta. Cool shower and a hot shave and now on to some nice gin(s).

Since I know you're all on the edge of your seats.

The Shave:

1956 Gillette Red Tip Super Speed with a Feather Hi-Stainless blade
Saville Row 2 band Silvertip Badger
Jack Frost by Sudsy Soapery ( A brutally cold soap made by a STL area artisan)
Razorock 888 w/menthol and camphor
Finished off with Fine Snakebite ( a brutally cold aftershave)

First a nice G&T with "The Botanist" then I'll settle into the evening with a perfect Bombay Sapphire martini, 5-1, stirred 60 times with a gerkin stuffed olive. Yum.

Just finished my third 2/3 mile walk of the day, after dinner (pasta also, no pork chops…feta, sweet corn, tomatoes, basil…quite good). Raspberry sparkling water with the last fresh raspberries from the patch.

Got the leg up, watching “Good Omens”, probably zonk out soon. My circadian rhythms are screwed; be up before 5…

And I’ve got about 4 days beard going.

Well, probably safer you don't shave in your current condition. :ROFLMAO:

I had about a week going. It was exfoliating the wife in a most unpleasant way.

Good on you, sounds like you are doing well.m, keep up the good work. I have been retired for a year and no matter what time I hit the sack I am wide awake by 5. Old habits are hard to break, lol.

My evening drink tonight is a gin and tonic while watching Shark Week.

For the lady and I tonight it was home made Thai food, I had Chicken Pad Thai and my lady a slab of Tilapia, we shared a shrimp spring roll and I picked up sushi for her. I’m not into raw fish.
Tomorrow after I work on my truck I’m making a new batch of pasta sauce.

Edit…….

Not sure about circadian rhythms but I can no longer sleep past 2:30am
Alarm or not, wide awake.

I just saw something for Good Omens 2.
Is that what you’re watching ?

We went in to Fargo today, I needed a new pair of safety shoes for work. After a lunch of chicken wings, fried green beans and Bloody Marys with beers back, we took in the Hunting Expo at Scheels (kind of fell in love with an AR...). Then we went into the store and loaded up on their ammo sale. Spending money makes me sleepy, so I had a 2 hour nap when we got home. We had pizza for supper and now I am kicking back with a Long Island Iced Tea and watching On Patrol Live. I have to say I'm not much of a fan of this cocktail. Shoulda joined the husband for a whiskey. Ah well...I'm guessing I may be a cretin in disguise

Well, drove down to Tampa Friday night after work to bring a treadmill down to my Mom and take care of a couple things for her. This morning I took her to Metro Diner for brunch. She had the Philly Cheesesteak and coleslaw with a cocola. I had the Fried Chicken and waffles with the spicy maple syrup and a sweet tea with lemon. Took her back home and we spent time talking. This evening took her to a mom and pop Italian place called Esposito's. She had the Chicken Parm with spaghetti and cocola, I had the Chicken Rollatini with fettuccine alfredo and cocola Came back and will be heading back home in the morning. Wife couldn't make this trip due to sore back.

We almost had pizza instead. I love pizza. And ice cream. Pass on the near beer though.
My wife got me some to try the other day, as I was kvetching about grilling brats without being able to have a beer…

Athletic Brewing Free Wave (?) IPA NA.

It actually isn’t too bad; good flavor , nice hops, just missing the body.

Or I’m just telling myself that.

Probably the latter.

I lived in the Tampa Bay area for 21 years. One never need fear not finding a great meal there, regardless of taste.
