This Had To Hurt 50cal kaboom

Since his SLAP rounds were purchased as military surplus I have to wonder if he got his hands on rounds that were sabotaged. Military units have been known to order rounds of ammo in the caliber that the enemy uses that are loaded to extreme pressures. These rounds are intentionally left behind after an operation in the hope the enemy will use these and wreak havoc on the weapon and the shooter.

I know a person who did that in Vietnam! 1 of the very few things he would tell me about when he was there.

Thanks for your thoughts Oaktree45.
Could be? Think of that same sabotage when simple things constantly go wrong while they didn't before? Is tactic and trickery often used to disorient a foe and sowed to create confusion and disillusionment. Possibly enemy in the ranks or going crazy thoughts? Possibly create paranoid feelings? Think minor throw away "junk" is created purposely? Maybe so? Maybe not?

Here's a link to Forgotten Weapons website with Ian talking about how a firearm can explode.

Thanks for posting link 10mm,
Ian's always interesting to watch and listen to for me. Definitely a likeable gun nerd! :) He raised a lot of thought on this end on what can cause malfunctions. W/o getting into too much detail, he's right on. Also, w/o knowing what happened to or where casing and bullet are, is difficult to determine exactly what initially caused issue besides high pressure? Magic bullets? - Like Ian stated it may have been from excessive wear or degradation of ammo, wrong type of powder, powder degradation or possible casing defects or excessive wear?

Pressure of any sort will go to the weakest link, which in most cases is the firearms muzzle. If barrel's excessively plugged for amount of pressure being released suddenly? Not Good. Tea kettle effect? There's some other possible issues too, like volume capacity's, but am not getting into. Most, if not all, besides being a very tragic accident is just supposition, speculation? And, w/o knowing all facts and having all parts right in front of most anyone watching video?
