Tons of vintage military arms

I would LOVE to have that well-worn, rusty Python. My LNIB '70s one is too nice/pretty to shoot much anymore (and even then, only with .38 wadcutters). Would be great to have one I could shoot the snot out of!

The worn 1911s and Lugers made me drool a little, too.

Seeing all of those surplus guns made me think of the Ye Old Hunter ads from the late 1950's on the back page of the NRA magazine. Makes me wonder how Sam Cummings missed buying all of these up. Maybe he was the one who sold them those guns in the first place.

Heh…I actually have 3 of the pistols listed (maybe 4; not sure about the JP Sauer)…but I paid a LOT more than those listed prices!

I didn't read the text above the ad but seeing prices, read everything looking for a web site -- DANG I GOTTA FIND IT -- then I saw "Alexandria 13, VA." Yes, that was well before Zip codes and unfortunately, the Internet.

It's interesting that back in the 50s the 38H Sauer costs as much as the Luger. I guess it was because there were more Lugers around than Sauers. I agree about the prices. I could have bought about everything on the page for what I'd spend on one or two of those guns today.

My dad and I made the trip up Route 1 several times to visit Potomac Arms during the mid 60s.

$1 in 1955 =$10.35 in 2021

So , bulk WW2 era guns were $250-$300…

Still a bargain, but I think $250 in 1955 was prob equiv of us spending $1500 today
