Took my brother-in-law to the range

Yesterday I had the privilege of taking my brother-in-law to the range for his first time ever shooting handguns.
He is a Canadian and a missionary in West Africa. He, my sister-in-law (my wife's sister - as American as can be) and the kids are here until after Christmas.
Recently my sister-in-law mentioned he wanted to go shooting before they went back so I had to make it happen
He said he had shot a rifle and a shotgun once.
Made sure I had plenty of ammo and safety gear and took him to my indoor club.
Started him off on a Heritage Rough Rider 22 and then on a ATI/GSG 1911-22. He did pretty well with those.
Moved up to a Glock 17 and he did pretty good. Then I had him shoot my Hellcat Pro - found out my red dot battery died already, just got it shortly after father's day - he shot pretty well with that, though.
Started to run out of time - had to get dinner and then to a hockey game, so I had him put a few rounds through my Kimber Custom 2 in 45 and then to finish my Hi Point JXP10MM - interestingly, he had his one and only bullseye with the Hi Point

During the hockey game, I asked what is favorite was - he said the 1911-22 (which is definitely one of my favorites) and the Glock - that one hurt a little LOL.

My cousin came for a few days last year and said she wanted to go shooting. 70 years old and never shot one at all. I brought a Ruger Wrangler, a Henry .22 rifle and a Ruger .32 Single Six. She liked them all and the .32 the best. Maybe next time I'll try a low powered semi-auto. I wanted a good experience and didn't want to ruin it with some heavy recoil.

I taught my youngest brother in law and his wife to shoot (and now they both have carry permits). Also taught my granddaughters. (Wife and Son too but that was decades ago). My older brother in law shot a fair bit of .38 special out of a heavy S&W. HIM I messed with🙄. .44 Super Blackhawk 4 3/4”. I fired 6 (moderate .44 Special in Magnum brass, 180 grain cast pill) Boom, Boom etc. when it was empty I said Fred, you wanna try (I knew he did). Warm .44 Magnum with 240 grain cast (the next 6in the box😏). “ hold on Fred, it kicks pretty good”. KERBLAM, KERBLAM, etc. He fired the 6. I reloaded the next 6 (original Special load) shot one handed -Boom, Boom, etc. Fred knows he’s been had and says “alright what are you doing”😊. He’s been gone now for 7 years and I still miss him a lot. Great guy.
