Tritium/Luminesent front Sight

Mine doesn’t seem to “glow.” Does anyone else seem to have this problem? Do I need to have it in the sunlight like a glow in the dark frisbee? LOL. It’s on my XD-S Mod 2 9mm.
I have a hard time picking up that front sight especially when dry laser firing in the house. I thought this sight would stand out.

Are you certain it’s a tritium sight? They arestandard on XDS’s.

Can you post a picture of it?

I attached two photos. I believe I’m correct. This was a gear up package that I got in April of this year. It just doesn’t seem right to me considering it’s supposed to be an upgrade.

So, only the very center of that yellow ring will glow; take it in a dark room, and you should see a green dot. You won’t see it in normal light.

The large yellow ring is luminescent, and needs to be charged by bright light to be visible in the dark.

Do you know if it’s the same on the TruGlo TFX Pros? Does the orange outer ring on the front sight glow?

The stock front sight on my Hellcat looks the same as what's pictured above - and no, the ring does not glow. It is a hi-viz yellow for easier pickup in daylight, but only the tritium center dot glows.

As a side note, that front sight works beautifully with a Trijicon HD rear 2-dot sight. I just installed the Trijicon on my Hellcat - it has white rings on the vials for daytime, and glows just as bright as that stock front sight at night. Elevation seems about dead-on, too - no sight-height problems, shots go on-target just like they should (I practice at home with an 8" plate, at about 10 yards).

That I don’t know; I know that Trijicon HD’s larger, brighter ring will glow if charged, though, as do the TFX Pro’s...I guess I’m going on assumption.

Can you take a flashlight/bright sunlight and “charge” the painted ring?

Joe, the front sight on my XD-S Mod.2 did glow. I just had to sweep my flashlight over the front sight for a few seconds to charge the outer ring material to glow. I assumed the Hellcat sight was the same model.

I just installed the TFX Pro sights on my CZ P10C. The green tritium is very bright both on the front and rear sight. The orange outer ring is in good contrast to the green rear sights and glows pretty brightly the more light it's exposed to. I took my CZ to the range this weekend and it was definitely easier to pick up the target than with the stock night sights the handgun came with. The TFX Pros are a good balance between fiber optic and night sights. I was able to put most rounds thru the center ring at 7 yards and had just a few flyers at 10 yards, more due to shooter's questionable eyesight than weapon or sight malfunction.

Excellent. Can’t wait to get mine.
