TRP Finish

Does anyone know when the TRP went from Black T to Cerakote finish? I've got one from 2018 that I plan to replace the grip safety and want to make sure I'm clear on how to get the frame refinished to match the slide. I've asked SA, but they haven't felt compelled to respond.

TRP’s used ArmoryKote, not black T. Black T was reserved for the Professional. Armorykote is KG Gunkote that Springfield put their name on it, for their in house colors. And a couple years ago about when the 911 came out they switched to Cerakote.

As a coater I would recommend just do the whole pistol if you want them to match.

Thanks for the insight. I emailed because I also wanted to provide feedback on the gun and how different (not in a good way) the attention to detail is versus the one I bought in 2005.

Perhaps I'll take slide and frame to my coater to see if he thinks the gun has Cerakote on it, then go from there. I'd prefer to not have to invest in a sight pusher unless there's no other option.
