Anyone have one of the Turkish MP 5 clones? Comments on quality/performance welcome. I had a Grecian Formula HK G3 from Springfield Armory back in the day. (serial number 003!) It was a great rifle but I sold it during the crazy money assault weapons ban.

I’ve got both a MKE Zenith Z5RS and a MKE AP5k (not me firing).

Both are solid, even supressed.

Highly recommend, if you don’t want a SP5.

I haven’t had any serious issues, although my K had a few initial stutters with them (as well as ETS polymers). Real-deal MP5 mags, no problems.

Splurge for a few real HK, if you’re looking at using them for social work.

All original HK SP5. A few friends have the Turkish varieties and no issues whatsoever.

I’ll add:

I’ve got the some HK originals—a couple HK94’s and a SP89—and parts interchange with the Turks.

(DOC HK94 bottom left w/F stock & Surefire forend; HK91 w/PSG1 stock & trigger above, SACO HK93 right)

Preban SP89.

Well, this thread is both good news and bad news. As I suspected! So the scheming begins...how can I spin it so SHE needs the MP 5 clone....

It's a Primary Arms SLX1 etched reticle. it works even if your battery is dead. No need for irons. It has a really nice mounting system though and you can sit it low enough to cowitness.

I've got 2 - AP5 and AP5-P

I think the instructions say it takes 250 rounds for break in. The first few magazines thru the AP5-P were terrible. Multiple failures. After my 1st range trip with it, I thought I would be sending this thing back. However, 2nd range trip, I had a couple issues in the first 2 magazines - but after that, it all cleared up and not a hiccup since. Definitely give it the # of round break in.

I SBRed both. Binary triggers - both. UTG integrated rail/handguards - both. A3 Tactical foregrips on both (AP5-P - +10 foregrip.)

Of the 2, the AP5 is my favorite.

I like the Magpul stock on the AP5.
I put the Choate stock on the AP5-P just for the classic look - its OK, but I am considering other options.

I was at the range a couple months ago with my regular shooters. One of the guys brought out his neighbor and the neighbors son. Both were new shooters. We were instructing them how to shoot handguns - up to about 7 yards. They were doing ok - but typical new shooters. Father had also brought out a pistol grip 12 gauge and had his FN Reflex. He was thinking self-defense/home defense.

Toward the end of the session, we were letting them shoot some of the other toys we all had out. Both father and some wanted to shoot the AP5 (suppressed). Both of them were ringing steel torso targets every time with the AP5 from 30 yards. Little recoil. 3 points of stabilization with Brace or stock. Great, accurate home defense firearms that almost anyone can shoot accurately. (and with 30 rounds, in that roll - probably do not need to worry about fast mag changes.)
