U.S. destroyers to aid in drug war!

Both variants of the LCS are maintenace hogs and have multiple defective issues, and were/are a horrible waste of USD.

The LCS program is just one of the massive mistakes that the USN made during the last 30 yrs.
I read the article about this on Military Times. Seemed like a Great idea but now I’m thinking differently if the ships are floating pieces of crap😠
That means less time actually doing the mission and more time docked doing maintenance.

When one realizes that many military "solutions" (think DIVADs if you're old enough) were never designed to work or solve a solution but rather to spend large amounts of money with distribution to many hands, you begin to understand empires.
If you are referring to the Sgt. York, then yes I remember DIVADs. There was a time when fond of copying Soviet designs in this case the ZSU-23-4. So they decided to try and put a big turret on an M-48A5 chassis, try and integrate radar fire control with an F-16 radar and Bofors 40mm guns (I think). After all of those sunk costs they cancelled it thank goodness. BTW, I've been up close to the ZSU-23-4 and it's a piece of junk that broke down all the time.

Another example is the improved TOW vehicle meant as a copy of the BRDM-ATGM. Fort Knox actually put together the first prototypes which actually worked. Then big Army got a hold of it and proceeded to develop a so-so official version. Hint to the developers. Don't reverse engineer Soviet/Russian equipment.

I remember seeing that thing at a outdoor military museum display

I was an LEO in the Tampa Bay area in the 80's and 90's. USCG has a large air operations center there and was home to a couple of large Coast Guard cutters. We provided some firearms and tactics training to USCG crews who were serving on boarding parties. The amount of drugs those crews were interdicting in the Gulf was stunning. No doubt human smugglers are using similar routes and methods today.

I almost forgot about this one. It actually was a good idea. I watched 4 of them in the ground support role light up a group of “Objectives”. It was just before dawn and Boy was that One Hell Of a Light Show🪖🇺🇸👍

Don’t forget all the goofy uniform changes the Army has made; fatigues and dress. And the Navy’s blueberries.
