It's my understanding that much of the hardware we have been supplying Ukriane with has been old stuff, by our standards. Still effective no doubt, but hardly cutting edge or in need of testing. That may be starting to change, however.Unfortunately Ukraine has become a somewhat large petri dish for testing the weapons of modern warfare. The West is testing its weapons against those of the Russians and their allies, and the poor Ukrainians have had to bear the brunt of this military test run.
What I'm finding fascinating is the low-tech/cheap tech that is being developed and deployed in this conflict - from civilians with inexpensive drones contributing to battlefield surveillance in real time, to unmanned demolition boats built out of jet ski parts that have shown themselves to be cheap and effective, it's pretty fascinating. We are seeing what future warfare is going to look like, and it's not all going to be super-expensive high tech.
