(WARNING) Don’t Open The Email!!!

So this morning I was on a popular RV Forum that I visit regularly and read a post about someone being Hacked because he clicked on and opened an email that “said” he had been hacked, he realized quickly he had NOT been hacked until he opened the email that said he had been.
Well wouldn’t you know I had the same email in my junk folder this morning, I can tell you I wouldn’t have opened it anyway but it was great getting a heads up so I thought I’d share.

I got an email couple weeks back on my Hotmail account saying they hacked my pc and saw all the porn sites I visited, and for me to pay so much in bitcoin by a certain date or he would expose all that I visited, well for one, I don’t visit any porn sites, just a scam email, there are people who would actually send money, sad the way this internet works for the bad guys
I've had about 10 of those e-mails. They also include a picture of what is supposed to be my house. It's actually an old picture of my former neighborhood and the ex-neighbor's house. They also include an old land line phone number I had disconnected years ago. I have a picture of my bare backside saved on my desktop for easy reference to e-mail them back with the message "Here's your payment MFer!".

It's really hard to get hacked just by opening an email unless you click on a link or open an attachment. Not saying it's impossible but it is highly unlikely.

And then @10mmLife said it’s ok to open emails and you won’t get hacked……then mysteriously all his yeet porn became public knowledge…..

With an Apple machine and a mail program it's going to take more than opening an email to get hacked. I can't tell you anything about Windows machines but unless you respond or click on a link or something you got no worries just from opening an email on your machine. You can always easily check the email address a suspicious looking email came from too. If you didn't subscribe to it or know the sender it's a good bet it's spam at a minimum.
