SAINT
A Washington state man shot and killed a suspected burglar and opened fire on another inside his home early Thursday, saying "I have a right to defend myself."

Jerahme Smith, 31, told Fox affiliate KCPQ-TV in Seattle that he was in his Spanaway home with his sister when two men kicked in a back door. One of them had a weapon, prompting Smith to open fire in self-defense, he said.

I understand why the word “suspected” is used but I would be livid if he is charged with anything for protecting himself and family.
Unfortunately this is happening everywhere and only going to get worse.
Not everywhere brother. Doesn't happen in Missouri, Kansas, S. Dakota, N. Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Florida, Arizona, Utah or Idaho.

As the shooter, even if I felt sure I was in the right I wouldn't say anything in public until the case is dismissed from the DA; you never know how your words can turn against you.

Even here, and in other public forums, what you post can be used against you in future. All the more reason to think before you type.
