Washington State Advances New Gun Regulation Proposals

A landmark measure that may soon reach Governor Jay Inslee’s desk requires individuals to report lost or stolen firearms within 24 hours. This proposal, a part of a larger push by gun safety advocates, aims to tighten Washington’s already strong gun regulations.

My Son lives there. They just passed a silly feel good gun safety course you take on line to be “qualified” safety wise to buy a gun. The cancer of California runs up the I 5 corridor for sure!

You can bet most of this legislation, if enacted, will have little to no effect on "gun violence" and would put costly burdens on retailers. But if that statistic is correct, reporting your stolen guns would seem like a no-brainer. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a made-up number for shock value.

thing is..."what if"......

"what if" the gun owner is in the hospital, or away on vacation, maybe at work, and not knowing his/her home, garage, shed was broken into and items (besides guns) was stolen?

how does that "play into the must report with-in 24 hours"?

not all neighbors give a flip about the owner of the property. (many of us have bad neighbors)

not all neighbors will call 911 and report a burglary/break-in, as so many times, break-ins and burglaries happen in the dark of night.

why should the home owner be fined, arrested or anything else, under some circumstances?

Excellent point. Let's hope our illustrious, well educated, well informed, fair and open minded politicians would craft the measure to make exceptions for such circumstances. (Rolling my eyes really hard.)
