Honestly I don’t know if it’s running the dishwasher or something else…….

i was watching a recorded tv show, "last week tonight", and John Oliver the host actually had a story about water shortages and such.
sorry to say, but we here in the north east have had so much rain since mid january, we still are in a drought ourselves.
just not any where's near as severe as many other places.
but the one thing not too many ever wonder about, is that when you have buckets of rain every month, not too much attention is given to other parts of the country.
if anyone can catch a re-run of that show on any HBO channel, then please watch it.......

and THAT too is yet another problem according to the "last week tonight" show. that in some places of the country, companies are drilling deep into the ground water and sucking that dry. it took hundreds of years to establish the ground water, and it was said that many wells also get thier waters from that. as a result, huge sink holes are now cropping up all over the place.
what is very troublesome. is that in some areas of the country where water is in short supply, what is being built..??
golf courses, that take HIGE amounts of water, and water parks with surfing...!!! many in the MIDDLE of deserts. like in CA, and AZ, and UT...!!!!
like c'mon people, common sense here, please, you don't build things that require water, then also build housing complexes that also require water, and expect that the water will be there.

Salt Lake City may be on the forefront of this issue. They consume 100% of the water from the Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon rivers in the developed city. They continue to develop. An unintended side-effect is the primary re-charge source for the Great Salt Lake was those 2 rivers, which now do not feed the lake at all.
When I lived in SLC 1987-1988, the lake was over-the brim and the Salt Palace was flooded out (facility on the former shores of the lake). Now it's several miles from shore. Might have interesting consequences for sure...

Golf courses big time water users however all or most water parks are required to recycle their water so not much “new” water is used daily.

With the oceans being 70% of earth, we have zero lack of water.
What we have is societies lack of using this resource.
We spend $$$$$$$$$$ on oil, pro sports and social programs, but we wont spend a .01 cent in this country on desalinization plants.
Moronic.
Water is life, but we dont allow for it. Pipelines galor can transport oil, but we wont build a plant to use our oceans bounty and ship it to anywhere in North America ??

Yes we have been in the places where water is worth more than gold and we are one of those are and have dealt with what needed to be done. We also keep water on hand for drinking when like some areas have water with very high mineral content.

A very good point however at the same time more and more humans are added to the earth every year.

People are also 75% water. The people on this planet take up space, but the material they are made out of has always been here.
