well just wonderful

If your (pc) meets win11 requirements then just remove old os and install 11. For ms to not support older os systems is as stupid as auto makers not making parts for older models any more AND not letting aftermarket makers produce said parts. Years ago I tried getting a fuel fill hose (gas cap/fuel neck to tank) from a parts store and couldn't because gm didn't allow it :poop: 🤬 🤬 🤬 !

mine, does not. Windows had done, and i had done the systems check, and my mother board, and other components will not handle Win 11

i will try to keep the ole gal running, as well as the computer.

uh....i mean, i will try to keep the ole computer running......

the cost of a store bought pc is as low, or as high as one wants...i know i want fast CPU speeds, (at least 5.0ghz) RAM memory, (of at least 20 gigs) larger hard drive at least 5 gigs of storage/memory, and most of all removable sound and video cards.

i just would need a pc, not a screen, i already have a new one, nor do i need speakers, or printer.

sometimes those packaged deals sound good, but it is really the low end of the brand selling. and best for a young students work place.

i'd rather not spec out and build another one, way too many options, and so little time left on this earth to figure that :poop: out, plus much like reloading..???

you really do not save any money on parts or labor.....you just get the satisfaction you built one.

store bought for me

someday.......

I build my own, and prefer to do so because I can build whatever I want to whatever spec I want. Windows 10 was supposed to be the "last" Windows. Surprise! I use Newegg, and have their credit through Synchrony. You charge $499 and up, you have 12 months no interest to pay it. I've been doing this for the last 20 years, and I have never had a problem. My wife usually gets my hand-me-downs, as she doesn't really need a PC. She uses her laptop and tablet. She uses the PC to stream old NCIS episodes as background noise while working. She is not the PC geek I am. My current PC, which has the AMD Ryzen 2700X, the EVGA GeForce 1060 SSC DT Gaming Graphics card, 16 Gigs GSkill FLare X series Ram, on a ASROCK X470 Taichi Ultimate AMD4 Promontory Motherboard, etc is not compatable with Windows 11. Big shocker there. Which is why I am in the process of upgrading everything. That, and the fact that my wired Internet jack stopped working, so my PC is now using its wireless connection. What I am in the process of building right now would easily run @$2500 to $3000 build. Right now, I am at @$1800 total invested. Reusing my XSPC water cooler for my CPU and my full tower case helps as well. I use my laptop most of the week, my PC on the weekends when I want to do some gaming. My PC sucks some power with the 850 watt PSU.

i have been having "critical error" issues with my desktop pc.

now, it is old, and i made many changes over the years, like new solid state hard drives, higher power supplies, and updated from one OS to another....it will NOT be able to upgrade to Windows 11

i have currently a ThermalTake 750 W power supply....it is a modular supply, so it comes with cabling for either an AMD or Intel CPU..(i have an AMD)

the past few weeks now, the pc has been acting "wonky"

up to and including...shutting down......so the power supply is at the end of it's service life...(it shut down on me last night, while i was typing a posting here in fact)

i do not have the original box, so i don't recall when i installed this Power Supply.

but i just ordered a new one, gonna be here by Thursday, from NewEgg......one of my "go to" pc parts places.

so now, it'll take an hour or 2, to make the switch out, but i gotta set up a spare table, lift this 800 pound pc, and then take the 1200 pound wet/dry vac up from the basement, to suck out the dust bunnies that the canned air can't handle....

probably won't get to this until the weekend, but since the Taylor Swift Super Bowl game will be on, and i won't be watching it......

it WILL BE the Taylor Swift game...won't it..????

i'll be plenty occupied that day.....getting metal cuts all over my fingers...blood on the computer parts, and CURSING that damned Taylor Swift Super Bowl....!!!!!!!!!!
Just for giggles, is your CPU fan working? Just a thought, if CPU overheats, it will shut down the system.

yes, in fact, i took off the side cover, as i wanted to check the model number of my current power supply, (they will be direct fit/wiring), and the CPU, and the rear fan, and the video card fans are all working, and as dust free as possible.

the new power supply is a direct replacement of what i have now, 750 watts, and modular.

what i was going to do was, just remove the older source, and unplug the cables, and reattach them to the new supply...lots of time saved there.

yes too, i was aware of the CPU fan going bad, and what happens. i have an AMD cpu, and they get super hot, compared to an Intel.

Good, I will say you got the best CPU, I always used and recommended AMD, never cared for Intel, me and my brother where we live at had the first AMD Athlon when they became available, brother had friends/resources at the time, a whopping 650mhz, lol, and when I did build pc’s, I always used MSI motherboards, and NVidia graphic cards, just sayin, hope you get it fixed

that's the thing with spec'ing out a pc build.

one has to research various build sites for reviews, and pricings.

i did once use an MSI mobo, and i usually always go with Nvidia, but i also went a time or 2 with Radeon.

i usually always buy my RAM from Crucial, and the power supply was always at least 400 watts.

i recall at one time, you could buy an MS CD of the OS you wanted, for a few dollars.

then you had to buy a computer part to get it. even the lowly RAM got you the CD.

remember the re-install disk that came with a store bought puter..???

i re-configured a puter or 2 from one OS to the newer one...for free.....like so many others had.

the good ole days.

temp has reached nearly 50 today....

my new power supply was supposed to be delivered via ups by 3pm.......i don't hold my breath on that time.

nice day, yesterday, i used the leaf blower to clean the yard, and the front sidewalk and curbing/street in front of my house.

today, went outside, and washed the cars, to get that winter "yuck" off them, as well as i sprayed into the wheel wells.

ups showed up, just after 12 noon...!!!

holyee crap........now i will be expecting a multi inch blizzard...!!!!!!

anyway, this power supply maker, has a "cozy" for the power unit, and a "clutch bag" for the cabling....

how sweet, the Mrs. can use a new clutch bag......

it's the way they package thier product, kinda neat actually

you can barely see it, but the p/s is in a "cozy"...and all the cables are in that "clutch bag".

plug and play, my "hope" is that there have been no changes in the cabling, and i can just simply unplug for the older p/s to the new one.

i "might" do this switch over tomorrow (friday), or maybe on "sunday or, stupid bowl/taylor swifty day"..?????

Very nice!

well......that didn't go well...........

took apart the pc, removed all the cabling from the various devices.

the new power supply although the same brand, same wattage, and modular like my older one, just doesn't work.

is it dead on arrival, or something else?

the cabling inside my pc, is laid out well, clearly marked mother board, and the cabling is well marked as well.

really a very simple job...

but when i put the pc back into it's cubbyhole, and hit the power button,???

nothing.......and that scared me......did i do something wrong..??

i don't think so

i have SATA connections at one end, and they only plug in one way.

i also have already "tested" the power supply, and nada...nothing...dead on arrival.

well, now i gotta pack it all up, and call the seller, for a return/refund i suppose

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

i just contacted the seller, and they sent me a return shipping label.

i'll order up another one at a later time.

rather than to have them ship me another one now.

Wow! I have had that happen a few times over the years, sorry to hear this, sucks, show how the QC must work
