well this just sucks

Yep. I've heard similar horror stories about Allegheny County (Pittsburgh). They make you dance through hoops to get your CCW.

That county/city is a far left leaning area and it's gotten them nowhere, unless you count rising homelessness and crime.
Which is also weird considering how many Gun Shows they have in that area. Almost everyone that attends those are not from Allegheny County. Where I live there is a large hunting community and sportman's clubs too, so for many of us it's just easier to have a CCW Permit.

MN is odd...they reciprocate with other states, but they require going to a "local" sheriff's office to get finger printed b before they issue a MN CCW. Very unique in the US. MN is certainly NOT a free state. Thank Tim Walz and Ilan Omar.
MN is on my no travel to list, along with several other liberal states that don't recognize my TX LTC (license to carry). If I'm not allowed to carry in another state, then I don't go there. The last time I was in MN was in 2009, as I was traveling through it from leaving a high school 25th reunion in neighboring WI. MN is actually my birth state, but I don't like having to admit that. I remember telling my wife that I don't think I will ever come back to MN, as we were traveling south back to TX and crossing the MN/IA boarder.

That is what I think is just completely ridiculous, if you have a LIC or a CCW Permit or whatever they call it in one state, that should be recognized in ALL 50 States. I live in Pa but my Uncle lives in MD they don't recognize my permit there, and the same with NJ which also borders PA, it's insane to me I could go there and be arrested in those states when I am perfectly legal in my state.

And don't forget NY. They like to pullover vehicles with PA tags and check for guns.

In PA it's done by the sheriff in each county. My county sheriff is extreme pro 2A. He believes everyone should have a CCW, own at least 1 handgun, if not more, and practice. The process is a single page form that they mail well in advance of your expiring ccw.

You walk into the courthouse, their office is the very first office, he moved it there after he was elected probably 20 years ago. Hand the clerk your form & $20, hangout and BS with the sheriff for a few seconds while they do an instantaneous check, snap your new photo and printout your new permit.

The whole process would go even faster if the sheriff wasn't talking with everyone that comes in. Lol!

He even goes with their equipment and staff to libraries in the county on some Saturdays. They setup on the sidewalks just outside and does renewals and greets everyone and talks to people that don't have a CCW about the benefits getting one. I know a few people that have their CCW but still have never bought a gun. 😲
here, none of the police depts inform you, call you, email you, snail mail you or text you that your permit is about to expire...

"they say" 90 days BEFORE it expires, you renew it........

so, i hope to take my shooting test either this coming week...(all weather dependant at this point), or next week...then the very next daay, go in person and drop it off...yes, like my first ccw permit, i made photo copies...

now, depending on how many others are either renewing like me, or going for thier first time ccw, will determine my "wait time"

my first ccw took 37 days from drop off to phone call it was ready

Couldn’t you scale down either the Nick Nolte or Glen Campbell mugshots. They must be close enough.

Here you go. You’re welcome. 😎😇😜🤣👌👌👌

So states require fingerprints for a reciprocal ccl from other states... . Geez... (sorry, my former Canadian self is having an issue).
not only that, my first ccw back in 2021, i had to go to the Attorney General's office to be finger printed, thank god, at my age, it was free....

but when i went to pick up my ccw at the police dept, they printed me again, and my thumb print in on the permit

UPDATE

i found my new photos, at like 1AM this morning

yup, had to get up and pee..........went back to bed, but was deeply bothered by those pics being someplace....

so i went to the drawer where the current ccw permit paper work is...

remember i said a comedian (i think it was george carlin) said we do that, go back to the same places over and over again...???...in hopes the item will suddenly appear..???

well, i had 2- UPSP brown/padded shipping envelopes...

i stuck my hand inside, felt something.....originally, i did not put my hand inside, since why would i put my pics in a shipping envelope.???

i'll be damned.......my PICTURES...!!

i turned the dang envelope over, and low and behold, i wrote on the envelope...."2025 CCW pics"

like duh..........dumbass...........if i had turned over that shipping envelope, i'd had SEEN i wrote on it........

some days, it just don't pay to wake up from my naps.

now, i gotta go and buy another USPS padded shipping envelope, so i can stick my head in it, and ship it to the looney bin......

although, i may forget where i put my head.

Sounds like mine. I'm in Butler county PA

Needless to say I was born and raised in Massachusetts. Everybody has passed on there so there is no reason to go back, ever. I know for a fact if I was there I would never get a carry permit from them! Just a horrible state.

and what gets me is, that there are training classes for "multi-state carry", that vary in costs.....

but they do not tell you how long it can take to get that first carry permit, let alone a renewal...

wait times for a Massachusetts's carry can be 6 months.....then it's only good for 1 year...then, to renew it, you should start that process in 6 months of getting your permit...

after that,. stick your thumb up your butt, as the renewals can take over a year to get it

all this, i am following on a ccw facebook page.....

the cost of the "multi-state carry permits" vary from $135.00 to nearly $200.00 with of course no guarantee you'll get any of them in short time.

i am "satisfied" with my state permit, as i do not travel anymore like i did as a trucker.

national reciprocity would be best, but that will never happen.
