Plan was to go to the range this morning. I am going with friends tomorrow morning but I wanted some time alone and it was a good day for it. Windy and cold-ish which means not many are going to the range. Unfortunately the universe didn't want me to go to the range today. Got 3/4 of the way there and there was a major accident with only a really long way around. Look down, notice the wife did NOT put gas in my truck when she used it to go get drywall last week. Realize I forgot targets. F' it. Went on home. Decided I would tweak the scopes another day, but I wanted to make sure the Remington Golden Bullets would cycle in the .22s so I stepped out back and ran 36 through each of them. No issues. I'll pull a bore snake through them in a little bit and call it done.

Enjoying the last few drops of my morning coffee. I'm trying to deal with the VA and straighten out some issues. I am a disabled veteran and do have a disability rating. All I am trying to do is get the allowed temporary 100% rating while I recuperate from my recent total knee replacement surgery. My knee issues are already considered service connected, but I'm pulling out what little hair I have left on my head trying to deal with the VA. There should be a law about having to deal with all the VA bureaucracy and the hoops to jump through. Sorry, rant over.
Overall the VA has been good to me. Having said that they are sooo slow. I applyed for VA benefits when I was 54 years old, (now 77) took the better part of a year to get approved. Have had some major surgeries the VA paid for. Had to reschedule some surgeries waiting for VA approval. Have appointments at my local and VA clinic every six months. Started out with 80% rating took around six months to get 100% after jumping through all the hoops you mentioned. Good luck.

got home about 30 minutes ago from a class/course at the public range...."Beyond the stop the bleed"

it is geared up for gun range/shooting injuries, over his "basic stop the bleed".

as it was said, if someone gets an injury, it can be anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes before they bleed out, and if you are there, what you can do to save a life before help arrives, like up to 12 minutes in some locations or even longer, can make a huge difference.

there was only 5 of us there, class was just about 2 hours, and worth it (to me) to have paid the $45.00

he will send us our certificates via email and a list of items we should have as "civilians"...(the range sells kits)

he is a local 1st responder, NRA and USCCA instructor, and a distributor of the kits as well....

he explained the state of RI "good samaritan laws as well, and how we are protected, as long as we did not cause any more injury (intentional injury) to the victim.

very informative class.

also, as part of "the bigger picture" for me, my RI State Notary Public Commission arrived today as well..........

more on why i applied for that........at a later time.

and on my way home, i stopped at Micky D's, and got 2 filet o' fish sammiches.........

damned good day...........

I’m finally starting to feel less like death. Woke up at 4AM with a killer headache. Got up and took some ibuprofen and went back to bed. Been feeling off all day. Did manage to get dressed and get out a range report, but I slept most of the afternoon. So much for getting the things done that I wanted to get done but hey, they will be there tomorrow. I did manage to get a lasagna into the oven for dinner 🙂
