What are you doing right now??

Back machining the big ball race for a steel mill. Had to get a new forging as the first one was cracked. Customer scrapped it.

Taking my truck in for some service. I have found an independent diesel shop started by a couple guys who became disgusted working for a dealership. At 214k miles my 2013 Superduty is going to need some costly work in the future, we shall see. I would like to get at least another 100k out of this truck.
To me as an overall thing, dealerships are only good/useful for warranty/recalls and a little of the "free oil change" thing. The pricing is always the highest and the work being done will be done by the lowest paid "mechanic" they have that day. Ok big box type "shops" do this kind of thing. Yes there are some "trainees" and all that but i know i don't want the tire plugger changing the ball joints of my vehicle.

And 214k on a diesel is more like it only just got past the "break-in" mileage... hahaha... Most diesel-customers i/stores had/have were over 300k a few over 500k miles...

Best of luck for "cheaper" fixes and that 100k more miles you want. But put that D word in a shop's name and the parts, cheap isn't a thing that can happen "easily".

Right now i'm back in TAL "catching up" on threads because the sleep ain't happening. I have a "day" of "yard work" i will try to do tomorrow if the weather and temp is good like today was when i started the work. And my body/brain doesn't "act up" too much if i get to sleep.

A "younger" me would easily not need to sleep and been doing whatever we wanted to, at any-time of the day/night. I used to stay up for 2-3 days at a time, only needing a couple of hours between the no-sleep days... sugar was/is my addiction and the fact that i don't have the 'betes is kind of a surprise, the dad's side of the family is pretty much "filled" with the types of 'betes there are.
