What have you bought firearms related in the last 48 hours?

The owner of a local range I moonlight at recently passed away, and the two regular employees have been going through nearly forty years accumulation of forgotten gun stuff.

So today I got three USA Magazines blued steel 30 round Mini 14 magazines. Each one needs a little attention to some corrosion on the outside of the mag bodies. Also got 5 more Thermold Mini 14 30 round magazines.

20 plus M16 stripper clips, five of which have steel inserts, not the usual brass ones.

Ten or so M14 type stripper clips.

And 5 USGI rifle grease pots.

All at no cost because they just wanted rid of them.

Today I went back to the range and scored 5 slick spine, steel, Chinese 30 round AK magazines, new in the wrappers. And a rough looking ribbed spine, steel AK magazine that has some rust on the outside of the mag body.

Paid twenty dollars each for the Chinese magazines, and got the unknown one for free

Went to the local gun show today to do some window shopping. Came home with a variety of .410 buckshot and .410 defense loads to try out in my Smith & Wesson Governor. I wanted to get my hands on some Smith & Wesson J-frames to feel them out, but surprisingly there were next to none at the show. Considering one of those for my next purchase, but I have to hold one in my hands before I buy one. What I did hold in my hands was a CZ Scorpion 3+ Carbine. Maybe someday. And I also held a Ruger .45 LC Carbine. I would have bought that on the spot, but later this week I'm having my truck emissions deleted. Need to pay for that first. But I think very soon I will get that Ruger .45 carbine. I went from a .45 to a 9mm for my EDC about six months ago and have between 5-6000 rounds of .45 to use up! lol

Those Ruger LC's are kinda sweet. I want a cheap .45 PCC eventually. Been eying one.

The unknown magazine was disassembled after the follower wouldn't go past a certain point.
So, as any good troubleshooter would do, I looked for the cause. Initially I thought it was the rust at the back of the tube causing the binding, but.......
Turns out it was a hard to spot dent in the magazine body.
My initial remedy was drilling out the dent, BUT, that opens up another issue, deburring, and smoothing the hole inside the magazine body.
That was too much hassle to my way of thinking, so I looked at the follower and found a drag mark in the spot of dent. So, I filed (see ground) a groove in the side of the follower body to clear the dents inside geometry.
After about a half hours work, The follower was able to traverse the length of the magazine body under its own weight with no binding. So, mission accomplished.

Next up is the corrosion on the outside of the magazine body, then refinishing it.

Just put a bunch of GG&G stuff on mine.
