The biggest honor of my life was in helping a disabled service member . I taught him how to train his dog so he could get the dogs service vest back. Long story but here goes .....

The outfit that gave this member his dog and service vest let him know that the dog wasn't fully trained and needed work but he didn't know how or what to do and when he asked these people they couldn't or wouldn't tell him or his wife what to do. Since he didn't get the dog trained , they took the vest away from him.

These folks came into the grocery store where my now ex wife worked and she had seen the dog with them several times before. This particular day the dog wasn't with them and she inquired as to why. She called me at home and wondered if I thought I could help the couple.

After a phone call to find out what was needed and a meet face to face we got to work on getting it done. They asked what I would charge and were beside themselves when I stated " Not one dime!" . They insisted that I should be paid but I stood by my decision .

This may not be a legacy but I am damn proud of having the opportunity to give back to a veteran.
