When Carrying a Gun Can Put You in Danger?

Hello all, here is today's article posted on TheArmoryLife.com. It is titled “When Carrying a Gun Can Put You in Danger?” and can be found at https://www.thearmorylife.com/are-you-someone-who-should-not-carry-a-gun/.

I agree with most points of the author except the part about engaging in Road Rage in the first place. I've made the following recommendations many times on many forums and it bears repeating since the "Road Rage" topic was broached in his article.
ROAD RAGE
ROAD RAGE! - If You carry a firearm on your person or in your car…please read!!
If you wish to avoid arrest, jail, indictment, trial, and possible prison time…
When legally carrying a concealed firearm in your vehicle or on your person:
1. You forfeit ALL privilege to engage in road rage or in-person conflicts & arguments. Let It Go!!
2. You forfeit ALL privilege to be enraged over poor driving habits and/or aggressive behavior. Let It Go!!
3. You forfeit ALL privilege to argue over vehicle or in-person line cutting and other rude behavior. Let It Go!!
4. You forfeit ALL privilege to engage in lengthy horn blasts and other demonstrations of objection. Let It Go!!
5. You forfeit ALL privilege to engage in hand gestures or middle finger raising. Let It Go!!
6. You forfeit ALL privilege to engage in yelling or responding to another who is yelling. Let It Go!!
7. You forfeit ALL privilege to engage in “brake checks” of drivers behind you. Let It Go!!
8. You forfeit ALL privilege to do all things that antagonize someone who is an angry. Let It Go!!
9. You forfeit ALL privilege of shooting someone, or at someone, who is not a threat to you or another. Let It Go!!
10. You accept being Mr. or Ms. Milktoast and MUST USE EXTREME IMPULSE CONTROL. Let It Go!!
11. You accept your right to defend yourself or another ONLY as it applies in imminent death or great bodily injury.
Let It Go!!
12. You agree, unless attacked, to ignore, drive away, keep windows up, and ignore aggressors. Let It Go!!
13. You carry a concealed weapon to defend yourself, not to gain advantage. Let It Go!!
14. Do NOT display bumper stickers, license plate frames, or wear jackets, t-shirts, or baseball caps that advertise or threaten your intention to use a firearm. Let It Go!!
15. If you use your firearm, you, your vehicle, and your attire WILL be photographed by police. Shirts making pro-gun statements do NOT help you and may show a predisposed disposition of intolerance.
16. Prosecutors will use anything and everything against you if at all possible. Do not provide material for their use.
17. This or a similar statement on a T-Shirt will NOT serve you well after being involved in a shooting incident!!
Example: “Now I lay me down to sleep."
“By my bed a gun I keep.”
“If I should wake and you’re inside.”
“The Coroner van is your last ride.”
18. STOP and THINK!!…”How will this look later if I am on trial for using my firearm?”…
19. Example: A Philadelphia permit holder shot and killed another permit holder carrying his gun over a dispute concerning snow shoveling in January 2000. It was noted by police that Mockewich’s car had an NRA bumper sticker reading “Armed with Pride.”
20. WHEN YOU CARRY A FIREARM - LEAVE YOUR EGO AT HOME! LET IT GO!!!

Bye the way...
I pretend my middle finger cannot extend...
I pretend my horn is out of order...
I slow down, let the aggressive driver go on his/her way OR
Turn onto a side street to let the other drive go on his/her way.
If I am being followed, I call 9-1-1, announce that I am armed, being followed by an aggressive driver and describe my attempts to drive away from the situation and what the aggressive driver is doing to prevent avoiding a confrontation.
I do NOT brake check the aggressive driver...don't do it!!
I turn onto side streets, or do whatever is necessary to DEMONSTRATE later that I did everything possible to avoid a confrontation...
Know where police stations, sub-stations, and other such locations are and go there if necessary.
Try it...it works...and forget your EGO!
Your EGO will send you to prison!

What are some key takeaways for the Protector Mindset?
Practice being cool-headed. If you are not easily shaken, you can help avoid the escalation of violence. Be the first to shrug it off, swallow your pride and move on.

Nah. You can defend yourself. You just can’t use deadly force unless it’s warranted or in a situation you could have avoided and chose not to.

I am exactly in line with this article. My primary carry gun happens to be a Hellcat Pro with polymer tipped hollow points. It fits my gorilla hands pretty darn good for a smaller piece and a 10 round mag. It doesn't jam and conceals very well. Not sure what to do when the weather gets hot. How do others conceal during the summer? I never want to ever draw my weapon on anyone and hope to never do so. I had a great CCW instructor here in Northern California (greater Sacramento region). It took me 4 weeks or so before I carried, after getting my license. I felt absolutely naked and obvious. Of course that was not the case, but it was a weird feeling. Walking around in public with a gun...and in California which really isn't pro gun. At the same time I have never felt more at peace. Still, today. Total peace in my car, pumping gas etc. I am a pretty chill guy...and carrying even more chill. I am even more not tempted to argue with people. It was a physical and emotional response I did not actually realize would be.

The thing we have to remember is carrying is a MASSIVE responsibility. Here in CA there are nearly 40,000,000 people and about 120,000 of us carry. Situational awareness is the thing I work on the most. I've always done it, but armed I am 3x with it. I agree that I feel like I'm being obvious having my head on a swivel, but I do. I am a member of the USCCA and it has great training, and I train like guys play golf. I enjoy it, it's not easy or automatic being proficient with firearms. Like anything it takes time and effort to do it right. The more you practice the more you are prepared. I am working on thinking about "what would I do" situations.

I write long, sorry. I appreciate considered thought when it comes to guns and I enjoy being a responsible gun owner, and only want to get better. I like solid forums to discuss with others. I remember during my interview with the sheriff he said, "We are on your side. Anything you need." That felt good.

My wife and my two daughters are my inner circle. They are the only people I will draw down on anyone to defend. Not even a second thought. Avoiding the entire situation is always the goal though. If sh&t is about to go down or something doesn't feel right...LEAVE!

The first step to not being dead is to avoid places like Cali.
