When Should Hellcat Springs be Replaced?

On my guns, I usually go around 3,000-5,000 rounds, on the Hellcat I don’t know, I would get ahold of Xdman or Mike H. that’s on here and ask them, or email Springfield’s CS and ask them, on my S&W Shield in 9mm, it has the double recoil assembly and S&W told me around 5,000 rounds on it.

It is recommended by Springfield to replace the duel recoil spring at 2500 rounds. This has been stated in both the 10k torture test and the follow up 20k torture test. That being said if its not broke don't fix it this is my opinion. i also have around 5k rounds in mine and still have original spring as well. but yes Springfield's recommendation is 2500 rounds.

I watched that 10,000 round torture test, and I do remember hearing that Springfield recommended the Dual capture spring to be replaced every 2500 rounds, but I did talk to Springfield recently about replacing some parts in my Hellcat and I asked the rep on the phone how often this spring should be replaced and this person told me I should be fine even up to 10K rounds. That's quite different than 2500. I wonder why they gave me such a different answer. I think I was at around 3,000 through my Hellcat when I called , and I'm at almost 4,000 now so I wonder if I should just replace it anyways.

Anyways I was wondering if the striker spring is supposed to be replaced every so many rounds regularly? I don't know if this problem came from the cheap ammo I was using or if it was the Firearm's fault, but a couple times I went out to do some practicing, I had a few light primer strikes in the beginning of the day. I do practice with Academy Sports store brand Monarch ammunition(9mm 124g nato) and it was very cold out in the morning when I started practicing, and I even remember within the first couple magazines of the morning, I was getting up to five or six rounds that would fail to fire and there would be very light strikes on the primers. This happened a couple different days this past winter and only happened first thing in the morning while it was still cold.

Once it got warmer out, everything worked flawlessly and I was even able to fire all the prior failed rounds on the second try. The tip of the strikers firing pin still looks like it's in good condition with no damage, but I was wondering if these Striker Springs get weakened after so many rounds that they would need replaced. I'm also using the striker spring that came with my Apex Trigger enhancement kit. If anybody can help me with these questions I would appreciate it :)

It sounds, to me at least, that you may have been too enthusiastic with your lube. FYI there is lube available for extreme cold but in my experience running a gun as dry as it will stand in really cold weather solves a lot of problems.

I don't know how many rounds my Hellcat had, but I swapped the spring (and the entire gun) for a CZ 75 Compact at the LGS. The CZ was unfired and I fell in love. Sometimes old dogs love old dogs..

Sounds more to me like he got lube in the striker channel.

I opened the patio door while reading the news and having coffee so I could hear the song birds in the early morning. I love spring when they come back. We need to get the swamp cooler ready to go, it's gonna hit 87 this week.
