Why Choose the XD Mod.3 for Home Defense?

So if you do something your own research find out this is a real thing. I had a neighbor kid when I was growing up I think his name was Barry something or other but every day his mother bought him something new.

And everyday when that happened he got that dopamine Rush. Wherever he's at today unless there's been a major change in his life he is still pissing money away Jason that dopamine rush.

And with all due respect I think that's the reason some of you guys have five or six gun safe stuffed to the gills.

And I think that's why so many of you own McRibs
I think you are trolling at this point. People here aren't newbies, and buy AND keep guns because we generally like and have had good experiences with them. The we generally fix or get rid of the problematic ones.

Different guns have different features, ergos, aftermarket, calibers, appearances, triggers, etc. Some also recoil differently than others or have different grip angles. There's different reasons why one owns different firearms from different manufacturers. If you are all in on Glock and feel the need to troll those who don't only own Glock or one particular manufacturer, then why are you on a Springfield Arms forum?

If Glock works for you, you think it's the best handgun option, and you don't want anything else, so be it. I don't understand the passive aggressive attacks on those who have a different preference.

Maybe I should be a little embarrassed here but I own a Taurus TH9C, a Springfield Armory .45 XDE, and a Ruger P90. I was the Assistant Rangemaster for a municipal LE qualification range 84 - 88. Owning a Taurus was totally "ghetto" during that period. Many moons later after Taurus bought Beretta, they started to produce a decent "throw away" ie the TH line. I am pretty agnostic when it comes to firearm brands. Aside from the known absolute garbage brands, I own most of them. I do, however, only carry my tried and true for edc and have only "certain" firearms at the ready for home defense.
Taurus never bought Beretta. They did buy Beretta’s manufacturing plant in Brazil when Beretta closed it, though…

I had a PT92…then I shot an actual Beretta 92, and dumped the Taurus to fund the real thing.

He might have been thinking about when Bangor Punta owned both S&W and Taurus. Which is why the Taurus revolvers of the period had more than a passing appearance to Smiths like this one, which is one fine shooting revolver, every bit a match to any Smith I have handled, of any time period.

If Glock would fix their grip angle I would. High stress situation I want a gun that naturally points at the target for me, not at the beam over the doorway.
Not a Glock hater - just different needs for different wrists. And yeah, I know - If I trained enough with it... and then I would be pointing low with every other pistol and revolver I won and have to become a glockfanboy only shooting glocks!
I was being feces........facetious.

That’s funny, all the Glocks I now own or did own since 1996, not one ever jammed or any issues period….🤔🤔
That’s funny because I had 2 Glocks that had more “don’t use that ammo again” than “I’m good with that ammo”. Yes my M&P M2.0 10MM had issues breaking in but it’s good now BUT I also seen the Glock 20 come apart because of ammo. So basically Glock isn’t the cure all either

I owned several original XD pistols, had issue with one NIB XD 40, took it apart and it was full of rust….and I mean full….striker channel was almost frozen in place, no way was I going to keep it, went back to my dealer who doesn’t take guns back but when he saw it himself, he gave me refund and I guess sent it back to Springfield, so yes no guns are perfect

I'm actually not. I may not have said it right but I'm actually not Trolling.

If I was Trolling anybody it would be you not the Forum.

It is a true fact that buying new things releases endorphins in your brain similar to the endorphins that are released in your brain when you ingest cocaine.

And it doesn't necessarily matter what you're buying. There's a thrift store right near my house that sells used copies of Louis L'amour books for a dollar apiece.

I used to get the same rush from buying those that I did when I would go down to the Longs Drugs in Old Colorado City and buy a new gun just because I wanted a new gun.

I pissed away a lot of money on real junk guns back then.

I've talked about this before all over the internet in forums that both of us participate in.

In 2013 something changed. That's when Colorado started turning blue and that's when I got serious. I sold off every gun I owned and started over with an emphasis on compatibility and covering as many of the bases that I wanted covered with the fewest number of guns that I could get.

I own 10 firearms total. I'm pretty sure that's all I'm ever going to own.

My firearm budget now goes to ammunition and very occasionally magazines.

I'm not getting into any new platforms. I'm not even buying any more Glocks.

The only gun that I would even consider buying at this point would be a PCC that accepts Glock magazines or maybe M&P magazines

An XD covers the same space as my Glocks. It doesn't do it as well but it's close enough that I'm not going to waste money that I could be putting into ammunition just to have an XD.

How is talking about the "McRib" and posting memes of a McDonald's sandwich anything else but trolling? What did it add to the conversation other than to through shots at the platform and those who like it?

No one here said that you have to buy an XD or you can't enjoy your Glocks if you think that's best for you, yet you keep going on and on and on and on as if someone suggested that you MUST. No one said that "@The Night Rider sell your Glocks and buy XD or go out and buy an XD even though you don't feel you have a use for one." You don't have to get into a new platform. You can spend all you money on ammo. I think the real issue you have is that you have a problem with others who aren't like you and don't subscribe to your minimalist philosophy on the subject.

I don't know what psychobabble is coming from, what it has to do with the OP, or the topic of why the XD would make a good home defense weapon. If the topic was why Glocks would make a good home defense weapon, something tells me that you wouldn't be as bothered.

Last, I don't care and it doesn't matter why people want to buy multiple guns. It doesn't matter if it's because they get an "endorphin hit," they are simply fanboys of a platform/manufacturer, they are collectors, they like variety, or whatever. Heck, it even can be because they make up their mind on which gun they wanted or was best, so they bought all the options. What does it matter just as long as they have the money and they get some enjoyment out of it with all that's going on in the world? If someone wants a collection of firearms, so what?? Maybe the bases they want to cover are different from the bases you want to cover or you think they should be covering. Live and let live.

Wow, that was a Lot. 10 fire arms? What seems excessive to one may just be the beginning for another. Be happy with your restraint (be it guns or cocaine) and allow others to reach thier own conclusion on either. As far as Glocks go, there are those that do, and those that do not. Peace.

See this? It's an Estwing Framing hammer. I bought it in 1984 (Ish) in a Hardware store in Houston Texas.

I carried it at work until I enlisted in February 1988. Then it sat in my father's garage until he died in 1995.

I got it back then and after I got out of the Army in 1996 I carried it when I went back to work as a plumber.

In 1999 when I went to work at Micro Metals as a sheet metal fabricator it went into my rollaway.

It's still there.

See this? It's a Glock 19. When I bought it it was the smallest firearm authorized for Security Guards in Colorado Springs.

I bought it in July of 2013. and I carried it (minus 3 years at G4S when I carried their M&P40) until I retired in 2021. Actually I still carry it.

I only ever bought one gun after it.

A Glock 26 and I bought that because of compatibility between it and the 19.

Please note I never used the word "Enjoy" in this post until right now.
