Why the hate for muzzle brakes?

Not trying to troll the members here, but I genuinely wonder why muzzle brakes are so polarizing. The folks on this forum seem to be the most reasonable and rational of all that I am on, so I figure I can get some reasoned responses.

Is it merely a matter of the concussion which is diverted to the side? I have read that some claim they are too loud, but going to a gun range isn't the first play I head when seeking peaceful tranquility.

Call me naive, but it seems to me that anything which helps a shooter is a plus. I don't see the same vitriol directed at recoil pads or recoil springs which help a shooter get back on target quicker.

Curious what you all think. Minions are acceptable.

They can be obnoxious to shooters on either side of the brake; some of them can “sandblast” burnt powder/debris (my buddy’s .50BMG with a “fishgill” pattern brake is notorious amongst us for this…).

They are horrible to fellow shooters on “ the line”.
I’ve run about a dozen brakes from about as many high end companies.
A brake works perfect for its intent.
Reduced climb on follow on shots.
It sucks x 1000 for anyone next to you.
I can say solo hunting hogs a brake keeps a quick reaction to follow shots. especially for hogs on the run.

Fellow hunters have mandated I NEVER bring a brake back to a hunting line. Ever !!!

A brake sucks for backblast. Indooor is complete stupid bull💩 in a bay for the blast radius.

I will demand an RO excuse a brake from an indoor range
 
I hated wearing hearing protection in a deer stand, i took em off most of my guns they came on. i'm an old fart and never needed one before they were tacticool and don't need one now. i don't shoot indoors and can't imagine the sound of one inside. Some think they have to have them and that's fine, they are just not for me. also some of those larger ones look ridiculous on a gun to me. but that's just my opinion.

All the ear pro in the world doesn't mitigate a muzzle brake in the lane next you. And anyone who says otherwise is the guy with the 8 in AR with a muzzle brake or a Draco. I can’t believe this is even a discussion, but as usual, as long as the offender is good, screw everyone else. Right?
 
with a person (me) that has way to many brakes/fh/comps some aren't as bad as others when it comes to sound direction! if and when i decide to get a suppressor i might not like it! comps are a low level less likely to combat muzzle movement(s). flash hiders do little of hiding flash and only reduce it in your sight line. brakes are good only with a good design and (in most cases) will make it more noisy at the angle the slots/holes are cut. a loud brake isn't necessarily an efficient brake and the louder it is doesn't make it any better. the best efficient brakes i have are ultradyne, strike industries and lantac. odin works and 1 other i can't recall are a good 2nd. i'm not saying the whole line from those companies are great, but do make some very good brakes to stay on track and keep sight for many follow-up shots! all cartridges that fit into an ar15 platform don't produce enough recoil to need 1 for range time (458socom, 50beo, 45bush & so can be tamed with a proper tuned ar). i guess call me "a brake user" and dislike me all you want, but i can shoot faster and stay on target for those long-range shots when needed. can't do that with a suppressor (movies maybe). if the gun is suppressor tuned, then possibly (most likely require loads developed for ar suppressors).
