Why the USS Texas flooded herself during WWII

we visit her about once a year .
she is a grand gal
eagerly awaiting her move to the new pier after refits

Visited the "Texas" at San Jacinto in 1974, I was 8 years old. I also got awarded a football trophy by Billy "White Shoes" Johnson that same year. Our team "Falcons" was sponsored by Nasa Space Center. I played offensive left tackle, now days I'm just offensive LOL. USA was a much different place back then.

that was the plan a few years ago
dig a hole and concrete her in
it was the perfect back drop, i think tourism was low because folks had to drive all the way through la porte
and there is nothing out there on that road but refineries and hookers
