because of the 10 round limit in my state i bought an xdm elite compact in 45 acp for winter carry, we'll see if its to big to carry in the summer but maybe not. I also have an xds 3.3 in 9mm thats pretty concealable
I have a 20 some year old Springer XD40 4in with a few mags and it still works great but its sealed up in a oil cloth then put in a vacuum food bag stored in a Pelican case same with ammo. My wife always liked the 40 but now days 38spl with Critical Defense because of hand strength. I at one time had a Colt Delta and it was the biggest pain I ever owned but I traded for a couple 45lc and P08 which made me a happy man. I do have to say that I love wheel guns and over the years I had less aggravation with them and served me well when I was a Deputy.
